Nonsense, there's a thread on here somewhere with the real HF gems listed. I'll tell you flat out, the 4 1/2" angle grinder (usually on sale in the neighborhood of $14.99) is by far the best product they carry. I bought one, and then after disassembling most of a car with it, I went back and...
I don't disagree with you about the quality/tier differences, but at the same time the majority of "new" sources (sellers) of won't know the difference.
At the same time, I saw a 17" clausing (what i would personally consider yet another tier above the delta listed) sell for $325 about 6...
Just to throw in another viewpoint. I tend to see two types of sellers/sales. I would classify it as the CL sellers who put a high dollar value on these (usually the $250+ range), who probably have a good sense for it's true value (but not imho, it's market value due the second type of seller)...
It's out in Athens. I saw it about an hour after he posted it, and if I wasn't restoring my 1940s 10" grinder I would have snapped it up by now. I was lamenting to one of the guys at work that I hate not buying it, I just can't justify the cost even though it looks really complete.
If it ever...
Very nice. How long did it take to collect all that? We never have much in the way of heavy duty machinery down here. I guess being mainly agricultural (historically) kind of limits the number of manufacturing/heavy machinery available to us.
Was working on my grinder, getting it ready for paint (or hopefully powder coat) and ran into an issue that may or may not be resolvable. To powdercoat the central motor housing it needs to get to get the outside metal to around 400 degrees for 10 minutes. I don't want to put the center casing...
All,
Still working slowly on my restoration. I'm a little stumped by the way the placards are attached to the body of my grinder (See pics)... If I had to guess I'd say they were blind rivets... but I'm not entirely certain that is something that makes sense? Maybe a slightly convex hole that...
Well, it did have a 10x1x1...... :D
I've got most of the major stuff torn down, but there is a metal sleeve/spacer/bushing that does not want to come off so that I can remove the inner retaining washer. I've given it a couple of light love taps, and am now letting it soak in PB and Kroil.
will...
tedsters: I'm pretty sure this will be all the grinder I need....though I did just notice a block grinder is on the list at an estate sale near here....
Pupuhd: Yeah that thing is a beast. I have a feeling, with the drop in cost of the VFDs, we'll see a shift in the cost of old 3-phase...
I did (pretty sure that is why it didn't sell for so long), and the VFD is already on order. It should have shipped today, but they are closed for the thanksgiving. Having three phase at the house would certainly aid my tool buying addiction though :D
The grinder takes (so the tag says) 10"...
Picked this up late last night after watching it languish on CL for a while.
I thought it was a beast until I saw some of the 12" grinders in this thread. I disassembled it from the base for transport, but it looks to be reasonably complete, though its going to require some elbow grease and a...
