    Measuring automotive rims question

Thanks. I couldn't locate a caliper locally that would work with the tire mounted. If I can find two straight edges or rulers that will rest on the inside lips of the rim as shown, that should work perfectly.

    Measuring automotive rims question

Thanks. I couldn't find a caliper that would work with the tires mounted. I like the two straight edge option. If I can find a couple straight edges or rulers that will rest on either side of the rim like that, the arangement should work perfectly.

    Measuring automotive rims question

I need to measure the width of some wheel rims that have tires mounted on them. Can't seem to find a caliper that looks like it will work at any local stores. Any suggestions on the best way to get an accurate measurement? I'm looking at 14" steel rims and need to determine if they are 5" wide...

A group of old mechanics creepers....

Not sure how old mine is. It was left behind by previous owners when my parents bought their house in 1965. I think it was pretty old even then. I always thought it was part of a built in work bench until we were cleaning out the house after my mom passed, and when we emptied the work bench we...

No progress on projects since my last picture, but here's a different view of the same messy garage.

White or Light Grey Walls in New Garage?

I stopped by Home Depot and picked up gray swatches from Glidden/PPG and for Behr. Comparing all the swatches to my walls, it looks like the gray on my walls is Behr "Misty Coast" PPU25-13. I posted pics earlier, but I'll post a couple here to remind you which garage it was.

White or Light Grey Walls in New Garage?

...but only 50 shades of gray. Sorry. I couldn't stop myself.

White or Light Grey Walls in New Garage?

Thanks. Really sorry to hear about your buddy. I chose the wall decal because I have a 68 Formula S 340 fastback myself.

White or Light Grey Walls in New Garage?

Doh! The last empty can got thrown out, so now I can't even get more for touch up if needed. I will pick up some swatches next time I'm in Home Depot or Lowes (probably tomorrow), and see if I can figure out the closest shade.

White or Light Grey Walls in New Garage?

I went through the same decision while my garage was being built. I ended up with both light gray walls and white walls. The builder convinced me that the light gray would look better, provide contrast with the white trim and white ceiling, and would show less dirt. I went with the light gray...

    Garages at Night Thread

The garage is so cluttered and full of project stacking up that my buddy is working on his Explored outside tonight with just the light from the open garage door and an exterior flood light.

    SHOP vs Man Cave

When I had my garage built, I envisioned a "Man Cave", and included, a TV, lounge chairs, a round pub table and matching stools, and even a slot car track, with that in mind. But, in practice, its perpetually in a crowded and messy state as a never ending assortment of automotive projects always...

    Lift questions in Northern VA

You might try contacting Valley Marketing LLC in White Post, Virginia. I believe they generally do sales and installations in northern Virginia, but it might be worth inquiring about sales without the install. You can contact them at [email protected] or by phone at 540-848-5200. I saw...

    Another Lift Positioning Question

I went with 12' high walls on top of the row of cinder blocks at the base (makes it about 12' 8" at the sides). The center of my ceiling ended up being about 16'. My two post lift is about 12' tall, but for the few times that trucks that get put on the lift, I kind of wish I had gone with the...

    Air Lines INSIDE walls

The problem with PVC pipe is that when it does explode, they can't find all the pieces in your body. I used Rapidair in my garage. The builder offered to run it behind the walls, but I thought it looked good enough for a surface mount and thought it would be alot easier to change or repair with...
