Ouch! I was on a crew using that stuff in California. We used a fusion weld, which looks like an iron with ring on it. Cut the pipe, heat it up to melting, and fuse on a coupling, etc.

There's manufacturer wall-mount kits that do a nice job keeping the condensor away from the ground.
