Help with ideas on replacing kitchen cabinets

I would beef up support for the counter, knock out the old cabinets and level the new cabinets up under the counter to keep the doors and drawers level. A new toe/kick plate would cover up any gap without looking too obvious. My old cabinets were all stick built on site with 1/2" and 3/4" fir...

    Mystery Screw Driver

Found this Phillips screw driver in an old tool box at our warehouse last week. The Phillips end extends all the way up the shaft to the handle. Need a new tip, just grind a new one. The four points also allow you to grip the shaft with a crescent for additional torque. Company logo is...

    Valuation advice please?

Not much, he might have some decent stuff buried in there but it's not well organized. Not much effort put into it, you'll end up throwing half of it out. $100 bucks, starting bid.

How many of you have a hand held bandsaw?

I picked up a Milwaukee portable over a year ago and it has been my go to tool ever since. It has zip discs, my dry cut chop saw and plasma cutter beat hands down. I made up my own stand out of a ground plate, a few scraps of plywood and some angle iron out of an old bed frame. I use it for...

Trailer restoration - rust removal help needed

Ditto that .... those scuff pad thingys don't last long and they are expensive. If you try a wire cup, don't be cheap ... Buy a good knotted one. If time isn't an issue, I would dismantle as much as I could and start from there. It's a great outdoor project.

    Transferring measurements

I' have a ball of duct seal (like Plasticine) in my tool box that I use for that sort of thing all the time. Just roll it out like dough as thin as you like on the steel plate. Press the object you want to transfer into the dough, pull it away, then mark, cut and drill to your hearts content...

I need to put some tight but smooth bends in a 3/8" steel tube

I used to do quite a bit of sand bending ... tight radius bends in copper mostly. It is very simple, take your tube and pack it (hard) full of sand .. don't use tape, just stuff pieces of rag in the ends to keep the sand from falling out. Heat up your tube with a torch till its red, then bend it...

    freakin ****!!!!!

Sorry, just had another look at your photos. If I understand correctly, the end wall is up against your kitchen, the house is heated and the kitchen side has the vapour barrier. Is the moisture getting in there from wet vehicles maybe?

    freakin ****!!!!!

I've seen alot worse. Good photos. Peel back/remove some of those bats and have a look at the sheathing. I'd want to have a look behind the other 2 walls and the ceiling as well. Looks like the PO didn't bother bagging the electrical outlets either. What's on the other side of the walls, are...

Galvanized pipe on a wood stove?

I used to weld galvanized material all the time. First indication your head is a little too close the the fumes is a sweet metallic taste in your mouth. Prolonged exposure can do some serious damage. There are a couple of reasons why it should never be used around a wood stove and toxicity is...

    Dead birds in furnace

We used to get all sorts of critters falling down the chimney and working their way through the heat exchanger and into the fire box on our old wood furnace. Sometimes you just find the bones.
