    Window suggestions

It is definitely a personal preference but for me I really like some natural light. My original garage was built with no windows mostly because I was being paranoid about privacy and security. I found that with no windows it was a dark cave that I didn't want to spend much time in and if I...

Does Your Body Hurt Less with a Lift?

Love my 4 post lift; hated crawling on the ground to position arms for a 2 post lift. Yesterday I spent most of the day on a creeper working under the camper outside. All the getting up and down took a huge toll on my knees, stomach muscles, etc. If you don't have a monkey to hand you stuff you...

    5 Gal. Frankenstein Plumbing Bucket

Nice job on the bucket but I'm old school and sad to see there is no room (need?) for copper in your bucket.

    Water pressure

110 psi??? THAR SHE BLOWS! No really, residential fixtures and sprinkler systems are not designed to handle that kind of pressure. I'd go with the recommendations everybody is talking about: 50 to max 70 psi.

Building the Cub Cadet Garage. Finally it's Done

Almost 30 years ago I built a "shed" for my cub cadet that was 9x10 with reclaimed window on the south side so that I could also use it to harden off plants in the spring. Like you, I built it to complement the house which meant a shingled hip roof and stucco. The shed had electricity for lights...

Is you garage shop to far away from your house?

I really like my shop being attached to the house but at about 900 sqft it is much smaller than many of the ones people are posting pictures of. There is a large attached 3 stall parking garage between the house and the shop which acts as a nice buffer for noise etc. It is just very convenient...

20+ Helmets Storage - build slide out shelf or Ikea Kallax on wheels?

20 helmets - WOW. I keep a shelf of older expired helmets as trophies but the ones I still use go in a cabinet. Since I have only 4 motorcycle helmets in use they fit easily in a cabinet without having to think about the access you need for 20 in use helmets.

    Tire width... On lift.

I'm at least one of the members that modified my Advantage lift by bolting angle iron onto the side of the ramp. I followed directions from Advantage lift. If you are at all concerned about whether it is safe to modify the lift contact the manufacture to see if they can offer advice. I posted...

Check out posts in this thread: And look at my specific posts as to how I modified my Advantage lift using advice from Advantage lift.

    motorized blinds - experiences?

Argh... I didn't realize when I responded to the now deleted post that the post came from a "spam account". When I used the @name reference their name was properly added to my post and I see now that that reference has been replaced by "spam account". I'm all in favor of not propagating...

    motorized blinds - experiences?

Adding to "spam acccount" comments is just the shear convenience of motorized blinds will mean that you will likely actually open and close them more often. For example, we replaced all our windows last year and the new windows were just slightly smaller inside dimensions which then required...

    inline draft inducer

Update: Quick rant: I continue to be unable to get my normal HVAC guy to come out and it seems he has ghosted me for some reason. Asking around to my neighbors and friends and they didn't have any good recommendations as they were unsatisfied with the big name guys they have been using. What is...

Back drafting issue - Gas water heater and boiler

I'm late to the party but came across this thread in dealing with my own backdraft issues. @AntBru98 what was your resolution to this? First comment: I highly endorse the use of an indirect water heater running off the boiler especially with regard to the amount of hot water it supplies. I put...

    inline draft inducer

It is the "controls package" that makes me not want to do a hillbilly installation of a duct fan wired to the boiler when it comes on. At the very least, I believe the "controls package" would include the mandatory safety equipment to ensure the boiler doesn't fire unless the fan is actually...

    inline draft inducer

Update on this mornings testing: With all mechanicals shutdown I see smoke movement into the return register that is in the wall cavity :( With all mechanicals shutdown there is some air coming in from the makeup air pipes House closed and only radon on, exhaust stack cool, fire the boiler and...
