You're absolutely right about wind. Once the wind gets over 25mph we don't open it unless we are just going in and out. A big gust can put a huge amount of stress on the parts.

Oddly enough neither of the two major door manufacturers Sweiss and Hyrdroswing, had ever done one so we thought the two we built were the only two. I would love to see a link to the community if you can find it.
They don't take up any space inside except on the edges where the Hydraulic Rams connect. It is just about flush with the inside wall when closed.
