Questions about longer runs (210’) to feed sub panel in detached shop

That is what an electrician friend suggests. Our soil is sandy and red clay and direct burial is probably the norm here. Thanks for your help!

Questions about longer runs (210’) to feed sub panel in detached shop

So I think I have been using the voltage drop calculator linked above wrong. I've been using it with 120V Because I'm actually pulling 4 wires (120V X2, a neutral, and a ground) I should actually be using 240V in the calculator correct? (I'm a newbie so be kind LOL) Using 240V and the #2 AL...

Questions about longer runs (210’) to feed sub panel in detached shop

I have read a lot on here about installing a 100 amp sub panel to power a detached garage. The reason for my, “yet another sub panel to shop” post is because of the distance from my main panel to the shop. So my scenario is: 24’x36’x12’ metal (carport style) enclosed shop Location: South...

Building install is done with the exception of the header seals for the roll up doors, which will be here next Tuesday. The guys showed up Monday afternoon to unload a few things for about an hour. They started at about 8 am Tuesday and finished about 5:30 pm. They were pretty efficient to say...

Building is scheduled to be installed 3/12. With the amount of rain we have this time of year, I won’t be surprised if it gets pushed back due to delays.

Slab is done, now waiting to be scheduled for the building install. I was told 4-6 weeks by the salesman, let’s hope he is remotely correct. I have a lot of dirt work to do so that should keep me busy for some of the wait.

Slab site is ready for concrete. Removed what little top soil was there, compacted 3-4” of fill dirt, then compacted 3-5” of crushed concrete on top for the base. 12”x12” footers, rebar in footers, wire and rebar up top. Scheduled to pour concrete Thursday 9 am. The grass hill was super wet...

I got one of the big pieces of my shop build project done today. The area that is the "driveway" to get to my shop area is very close to our pool. With the large amount of pool decking (pavers) and a stone retention wall all the way around the pool, the last thing I wanted was more concrete...

I will insulate the sides, probably foam board but I need to do more research on the options.

A little back story. I've been a member of this forum for a long time. I joined shortly after I moved to my current city in 2012. I left behind a new 24x36 shop at my former house. I've been waiting to build a shop at my current place since I moved here August 1, 2012. It is finally time. My...

Nice, let us know what siding you choose (vertical or horizontal). Inquiring minds want to know LOL. I'm still trying to decide on that myself.
