Adding some information here for posterity.
Background:
I was looking for a specific NOGA kit, the NG9100 (mini Set - manuf. part #: 7160515)
https://www.noga.com/product/noga-mini-set/
This is not readily available in the US and very few websites/retailers seem to offer it at the moment...
Following up with some information from Stahlwille. The attached schematic drawing shows the wrench is held together by 3 screws. One of the screws is covered up by the handle/grip. The grip is press fit with some glue on the end of the tool.
To remove the handle you'll want to wedge the lip of...
[RESOLVED, see post #2]
Need some input on disassembly of a Stahlwille 730/2 torque wrench.
There are only three visible fasteners, not counting the internal adjustment hex screws.
x2 torx bits
x1 slotted screw
Torx screws: clearly hold the two halfs of the wrench body/casing closed. These...
GOT IT! ....sort of
I installed the pin upside down
Looks like the pin may have been machined excessively/incorrectly on one end, and the line worker installed it upside down to hide the incorrect end.
I snapped off that little tip/****** that was on the bottom end of the pin. Flipped the pin...
I might end up doing that if Wera confirms it's a manufacturing/assembly defect. I'm just hesitant because I won't be able to do it cleanly without a lathe.
I think when they drilled the hole it was not as tight so the pin is able to stick out further. And the additional play prevents it from...
Just received some bits I ordered, and noticed one had the securing pin protrude further than normal, this somehow makes it tedious to get onto the wrench. Does anyone know how these are adjusted/installed at the factory?
I was able to take it apart, but there doesn't seem to be any obvious way...
little update on this thread, I ended up ordering a set of Gedore No. 6 (60777000) double open ended wrenches 6mm -to- 28mm + 32mm. (I had originally order Gedore 6078350, but the smaller sizes are more complete and better suited for my needs)
Also while making a stop at Harbor Freight for some...
They don't have to be super thin, the double open end wrenches already look to be perfect alternatives for me. Originally I didn't know that combination wrenches tended to be thicker than double open ended wrenches.
For anyone that's curious, I've got an E39 BMW; some parts are oriented in ways...
Didnt even know what they were, if i find a reasonably priced set theyre definitely an option. But there is such a thing as too thin, at a certain point i will also buy a Park Tool SCW set
https://www.parktool.com/category/hub-axle
Thats not a bad price for Gedore tools
Thanks for that, I'll definitely be going with double open-ended then.
I'm going to reach out to toptul directly to see if there's a distributor somewhere. I found a few items on ebay from a seller recommended by the GJ, but not the double open ended wrench sets.
Yes, finding thick wrenches...
If you have the means to measure the open-ends even if its only a few of them, I can take that info and interpolate for the rest.
These tools work for 80% of the stuff I've tackled so far. But I really don't want to have 2 sets of tools when 1 set will do. For me thinner is better, and that's...
Wrench thickness
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to restock a large portion of my toolbox, but before I purchase large sets I was looking to build some data on the tool dimensions.
My use is mostly automotive, and for me the thickness of the ends on the wrench are a big factor. Hopefully some of you...
sorry i meant to update it soon after
precision instruments took the wrench after toolsource sent me a shipping label to have any defects covered under warranty
Precision confirmed that
-the grease was just left there instead of being wiped off
and
-the leaking drive must've been due to...
