working ON your shop or working IN your shop

Last few months have been IN the garage, doing maintenance on cars, saws, mowers. Working on paying off house in next year so any extra money that I would use on the garage, goes to mortgage. I have to install more osb interior sheeting, more outlets and lighting, more shelving, etc. Outside...

    Driveway options

Check out Mike haduck masonry on YouTube. He has lots of videos on concrete, pavers, etc. He is in PA so climate is similar. He has some good footage of Denmark and also, China, where pavers have been used for centuries. Just some food for thought to guide you in your decision. Will the...

    Drywall primer

I am going to give first coat a try on my next project. Been scraping heavy textured walls. Basically the house was drywalled, then over the years wallpapered. At some point, in an effort to cover the wallpaper, drywall mud was liberally applied to the wall, then stippled using a sponge or...

    Let's See Your Garage Dog

Cute pup. I wanted a rescue or shelter pup but couldn't find any labs so I went with a local breeder who had a litter. Congrats and good luck!

    Let's See Your Garage Dog

Thanks, I think he's a keeper. Wife and kids wanted a dog for years and I finally agreed. Actually got him from a local family who breeds labs. His dad is "silver", which I guess is a heated topic in the lab world; mom is yellow. All 9 pups were brown or black. We picked him as he was...

    Let's See Your Garage Dog

This is River, our new black lab. About 12 weeks in this pic a few weeks back. Been too cold to do much in garage but he has a chair and blanket to sit in when he is hanging out.

    PEX or PVC

As I refurbed my house, I added pex into the mix. I still have the main trunk of 3/4 galvanized but it splits off to threaded & barbed fittings and pex to new fixtures. Once the hot water heater craps out I will go to a manifold and home run setup. I am literally in the woods and have not had...

Remember when it was warm enough to work in your garage?

Central IL here. Managed an ignition coil, plugs and wires in the ranger with temps in teens. Garage uninsulated, ****++y leaky Masonite siding no sheathing, no ceiling, one broken window, and three uninsulated steel garage doors ☺️. Definitely no heating this thing yet! But I agree with...

Heating recommendations for small work shop

Following this. Looking at doing same in my 24x40, room is only about 12x12 though. With these crazy temp swings I need a smallish space to dink around and keep some of my more temp sensitive tools. Nice progress!

    TV and audio setups?

No TV at this point. Just last week got the old Sony av receiver hooked to a pair of 6.5" two way DIYs and an 8" DIY sub. Speakers up high on cabinets, sub under workbench.

Heads up for novice garage wiring guys

Rocking over a box with outlet in switch makes it a pain for sure. I did the same thing and usually would shut the breaker down for that circuit and unscrew the device from the box then I could finagle it through the sheetrock hole, then once it's up I could screw the device back into the box...

    The river bluff garage

Here are a few shots with the new roof and fascia. Also a shot of my built in workbench I am working on.

    The river bluff garage

Haha, well no need here I am surrounded on three sides by ravines and woods. I am planning a fence to the north to replace an antiquated chain link though. I am not in construction but really enjoy it. My father in law is a contractor though.

    The river bluff garage

About 3.5 acres. Maybe two in grass and the rest woods and ravines.

Vintage oak cabinet TO tool chest

Good idea, I will check it out. Thought about having a pro furniture stripper do it via a vat dip system but paint is probably best out here with the temp and humidity swings.
