Biggest problem you'll have is that cast anything is full of air. That being said, when you weld it, all the impurities come out. It's like welding styrofoam to steel. Brazing is one of the best methods. Make sure your materials are at least clean on the surface level before you introduce heat.

Why not just build some temporary cripples to put under the lifting points of the truss so it puts the load directly to the concrete floor? Only concern I would see is accidentally knocking the cripples out if u bump them while it's under load. As long as u have purlins between the lower portion...

I bought a Milwaukee hacksaw the other day. We were building fence for her horses (that I hate). Long story short ...it was the perfect tool for the job. If she ever asks about it, I'll say yeah...that's the tool I used to fix your horses fence. Moral of the story....buy what u want, use that...
