Elusive and unique Snap-on F-7 find...

As always, very cool snapmom!! I forgot to mention that hex version, because I knew I saw one before. I also figured that somewhere along the line there must of been a 1/4" female version as well!👌

Elusive and unique Snap-on F-7 find...

I'm going to post on this thread again one more time... beings it doesn't go bad like rotten fruit...lol. But yes, there are at least three F-7 variants that I'm aware of... I mentioned them above in my previous post. I just got the needle selector F-7, but still hunting for the flat selector...

Snap on L-71 locking rat. 1935

So... after almost 2 years later, this is what I have come up with this 1934' L-71 rat. An original restored bottom end, selector (including sel. screw), pawl, spring, ball, plus coverlate & screws. The gearwheel has the typical 1936/37 flat peened retention ball detent. But still no locking...

    1952 Snapon LR-42

Hello again snapmom! Thank you for the tip! I haven't had too many issues getting off the 1/2" size roundhead coverplates, I guess primarily because they use the larger (thicker, about 1/8") sized pins to turn off their plates. Generally, these boys behave when I am working to take their plates...

    1952 Snapon LR-42

Howdy roggy, you are very welcome of course! And thank you for the reply! I too am a fan of Stahlwille. I have several of their model wrenches as well. Stahlwille, some old Belzer models, and a Hazet or two also. Those German made tools deserve respect. I specifically have an interest in...

Snap on SR-84 deluxe Master ratchet

All done and back together again! It wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be installing all 4 pawls simultaneously... just both hands in and once properly lined up, the assembly went right in fairly easy after two tries! I used a cover plate from a donor LR-42, and bam it's all...

Snap on SR-84 deluxe Master ratchet

It's coming along well... here are a few more SR-84 pics of the clean-up. The original selector screw is a write off, but luckily I have a replacement. All the internals are still in great shape, especially considering this things age... 76 years old now! There are no broken or worn teeth...

Snap on SR-84 deluxe Master ratchet

Thank you snapmom! Yeah I jumped right on this one as soon as I saw it! I never seen a quad pawl roundhead before either, plus this is my very first SR-84. Luckily, I do have a donor LR-42 that I probably will use for the parts I need on this SR-84. Then when I eventually find another LR-42 (who...

Snap on SR-84 deluxe Master ratchet

An 8 year old thread here, but instead of creating a new thread, I though I'd just add to this existing one. I just got one of these SR-84 beasts... and I'm kinda astounded by what it's got inside! I didn't see any other post or comments about this particular mechanism. But in regards to this...

Elusive and unique Snap-on F-7 find...

Yes, nice F-7 ratchet! I believe that your F-7 originally had a captive drive plug. I have one of these guys which I found a year or two ago. To my knowledge, there were three different styles of the F-7 which I have seen. This version is the earliest as it is the pre reversible selector model...

    1952 Snapon LR-42

Hello snapmom! Thank you for the reply! I always thought it interesting how the logo stamping differered on these, one has a sunken and embossed logo, the other a typical stamping. Both have 1954 year date codes.👍-JS

    1952 Snapon LR-42

Howdy all! So I'm just about finished up repairing this LR-42 ratchet wrench tonight! I installed the new pin/spring tube (first pic), now I'm just waiting for a new selector screw which is coming tomorrow. By the way FYI, if some of you are ever looking for a selector screw for one of these...

    1952 Snapon LR-42

Here is my custom made adjustable bi-pin spanner wrench. It's a standard Craftsman USA 8" adjustable wrench with 4 pins (two 3/32" & two 1/8" diameter). The one 1/8" pin side is somewhat damaged alittle. But this wrench has definitely come through for me on several occasions! I have used it on a...

    1952 Snapon LR-42

By the way, I made my own custom bi-pin adjustable spanner wrench specifically to remove these plates. One side was designed for the larger pins of the 1/2" drives, LR-42 & L-67 models, and the opposite side of the wrench I made it to fit the smaller pins for the 3/8" FR-42, F670 & 671 models...

    Stahlwille Tool Thread

Hello again all! I thought I'd add a fresh post to liven up this old thread from 2016. How about this 1970's Snap-On F71G with a Stahlwille 435, 30 tooth repair kit installed. Actually, this one didn't need a whole lot of modifications to make it happen. Really, the big one was boring out the...
