Detail Factory Overview & Buyers Guide

There is a night & day difference with using quality detailing products. For my beater, I do much like you. Keep it neat it good enough. For the toy cars, I want to feel my investment is in perfect condition. It just is more fun when its that clean.

Detail Factory Overview & Buyers Guide

Thank you for posting. I was just thinking I needed better carpet brushes. I bought cheap throw aways to clean the Corvette interior. @D.F.B recommendations for cleaning products worked excellent. Below is the before and after on a "barn find" '67 corvette. Still have another pass to do...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT DFB's Garage

Thank you sir! I ordered some cartridges for the respirator as well. It won't be fun, but I am looking forward to the results. It's a '67 Corvette w/ 25K miles....so worth the pain!

    Above 1200 Sq/FT DFB's Garage

@D.F.B Can you recommend something to deep clean an interior? I have a new acquisition that was sitting for 20?30? years. Interior has mold/musty. Vinyl seats, mix of plastic and AL surfaces. I know I'll likely do this a few times, but something more powerful to cut thru this would be...

Automotive Magnet Pick Up Tools - Need Something Small

Just to add another option. 5mm. I liked that it could be bent into all sort of shapes, and stay that way. I used it to pull bits of gears out of a trans when doing a track side gear change. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002YKNOLQ?tag=atomicindus08-20

I used that foam insert as a drill guide. Clamped it to the tile....it worked great, and held some water!

    Kalamazoo 7AD Horizontal Bandsaw

I like the base yours has, mine didn't come with one, and the legs were wobbly. I welded together a base on some casters. Also did a crappy overspray paint job, just so it felt nicer to use. They are great little machines. You will enjoy using it.

    Kalamazoo 7AD Horizontal Bandsaw

Mine is too, weird, never noticed. Is mine upside down, or yours? I've had it 4-5 years?, cut a lot of material with it. (hobbyist machinist). Still has the blade that came with it. It's all about feed and speeds. It was worth the $100, and 2 mile trip to get it.

Question about why helicoils don't fail...

Ah, good point, I was not considering legacy interchangeability. But, I am still doubting it's for strength. If it's been that way for 50 years the industry would have corrected much quicker. But maybe it would also serve a better purpose of reducing wear of parts swapping.....since AL...

Question about why helicoils don't fail...

I doubt that that is for strength, if it was, they would just design in a larger thread, which would be cheaper. Likely to reduce galvanic corrosion.
