Thanks to all for sharing your opinions in a civil discussion. We need the same in our houses of government. We all need representation that isn’t owned by corporate interests. Agreeing do disagree without rancor should be the basis of our interactions with others. Gregor I admire you...

You can check for voltage in the coolant with a DMM. If I recall correctly 0.4 volts was the start of problems. Ford had many problems with it in years past. Would eat through freeze plugs in the block. The coolant gets nasty when it’s happening and with your maintenance habits would see it...

Ford 460 Exhaust bolt snapped off

Sorry don’t look here often. The hole is just tapped the threads were deformed on the bolt. I just guessing they were not grade 8 from drilling them. I think I have some in box if you want them let me know. JT

Ford 460 Exhaust bolt snapped off

That bolt also has interference threads. I was a Ford RV dealer tech for several years and that bolt was a daily pain for awhile. The air injection line blows into the end of the manifold and it warps breaking the bolt. I never had a problem using M42 cobalt bits and Tapmatic oil. USA Norton...

    my one man repair shop

Keep in mind you need to find 1 good employee. I had a 1 man shop back in the 80s. I was also a single dad w 2 boys prior to opening my shop. There wasn’t enough time in the day to deal w phone and customers and fix vehicles. It’s hard to find a good mechanic that shows up everyday. If I had I...

Great job on the diff assembly! I hate to think about all the ones I’ve done over the years. Guys I worked with would give me grief on how much time I spent setting them up. I never had one come back but rebuilt some they sent down the road in less than 20K miles. I never had to do any Dana...

I made a little Venturi vacuum in A&P mechanic school. I also own 2 of the Snapon units. I bought it for the same job you did, cleaning intake runners. Used to loosen rockers so valves closed and vacd the heads also. The bag got pretty nasty after a few years so I got another to use for dry...
