Many years ago I rented a 70's built house that had aluminum wiring. I wasn't smart enough to go to each outlet and keep the connections tight. You could plug the vacuum in one outlet and sparks would fly out of another.

Im renovating an old house built in 1948. The wiring is a mess really nothing I can't straighten out. I am happily surprised that the black mesh wiring is in good shape and I see no reason to pull it all and redo. I'm getting a new panel put in and I will properly break it up into more circuits...
