    Craftsman Professional Flare Nut Wrenches

They are not the same as SK, btu are very good ( more) I bought the metric set. I also have one SK (9/11mm). The SK is very similar, bt not the same. The most important point is that both are "flank drive" or "headlock" or pick your favourite brand name for various patented designs that drive...

    Old Mystery Wooden Toolbox

Does anyone know what this mysterious toolbox was designed for? Its odd that the take-out drawer goes in sideways, so it can't hold parts in the closed position (or can it?). Sorry about the poor quality of the picture's lighting. G

Reasonably affordable snap-on tools for the Craftsman type guys?

HF and Craftsman in fact, some of the HF stuff >> craftsman, IMO. For instance, most of the Taiwanese made Pittsburgh pro stuff (That must be Pittsburgh, ROC) is very, very good - especially that made int he last 5 years. My PP torque wrench is much nicer than my Craftsman, and their pro...

New Craftsman Flat Full Polish Ratcheting Combination Wrenches?

Dont get too excited. I have that set, and mine have "GK" on the back So I think its a code. Mine are about a year old. They have apparently progressed from G to S. They are very nice, nonetheless. Grant

I too, just got back from HF.

jacks I've used both the racing and regular ( heavier duty ) floor jacks form HF. The racing ones are less stout than the regular ones. So unless you ned the really low hgiht. save money and get the better jack. Grant

With a good floor jack do you use a jack stand to change a tire?

No. Despite the fact that I dont trypically do it, raising a car stright up, and lowing it on a solid jack-stand, means it will be very stable. And shoudl something happen during that time - you are nto under it. So that's a pretty easy "no". Plus, the jack stand almost cannot "deflate"...

    "Danaherization" of Kobalt/Craftsman tools

I agree. I hear *some* FP are made by SK ...which would explain a lot. I dont actually know. My fullpolish stubby combos and my FP ratcheting combos ( all "pro") are much nicer than the regular stuff. Tighter tolerances, it seems. of course, they are also 20 years newer. Grant

    "Danaherization" of Kobalt/Craftsman tools

Typically a contract manufacturer works to its customers' specs. They make shat SEARS asks for and pays for. Danaher, who also makes Allen, makes some fine tools. My Allen hex wrenches are vastly superior to any others I have used, for example. And the better Craftsman ratchets seem good (...

HF / Pittsburgh Pro Pliers any good?

HF has variable quality. Pitt Pro is generally very high First, they are Taiwanese. And despite the jingoism prevelent, Taiwans is one of the most advanced manufacturing nations on earth, whcih a very highly educated ( and rich) workforce. That aside, all the higher end pittsburgh stuff I have...

    SK SuperKrome Wrenches

Supposedly yes Someone on here stated for sure that they made some of the C-Man pro flare nut line wrenches. I do like th pros. but beware, C-Mans metric line wrenches are NOT, repeat NOT sure-Grip ( or any equivelent), while thei SAE ARE. Grant

Harbor freight 1/2 inch 500 ft. lbs rated ratchet

You are right - html gremlins got me Sorry about that, in my cutting and pasting, the actual definition was lost, apparently due to some html code. I cut and pasted from 3 different parts of wikipedia on torque, and units of torque. I wanted to use a 3rd party definition to demonstrate that...

Harbor freight 1/2 inch 500 ft. lbs rated ratchet

let's make this simple. Unit of torque As a unit of torque, one foot-pound is the torque created by one pound force acting at a perpendicular distance of one foot from a pivot point. The term pound-foot is sometimes used to distinguish the unit of torque from the unit of energy. Pound-foot is...

Harbor freight 1/2 inch 500 ft. lbs rated ratchet

Great ratchet I'll presume the 1/4" unit is a typo. I can't confirm, nor deny, the 500 lb-ft rating of the 1/2" job, although it seems high. Nevertheless, I can't pull with 500 lbs of force, and its about 12" long, so I dont care. That said, this is a nice feeling ratchet. nicer than my SK or...

Why did I waste my money on these c-man pro flare nut wrenches?

Huh? Did you just say that nto grabbing the corners is the cause of rounded corners? I think so. Did you mean to say that?
