Too late now, but I did do that. I use them all the time as I had expected

I use wood in my house and love it, but didn't want to take up the space, worry about the fire hazard, or deal with the work of it in a garage, especially considering how little I need it at full temp

Went with forced hot air, propane. Will do a better job directing the air at some point but it's up and worked great all winter

I stuck with plan "a" and I love it, 5/8" plywood all around

Thanks for the info. My installed did correct the trap for horizontal mounting. I have read that a conventional furnace doesn't like to be set at low temps, so I need to figure out more about that, as I do plan to keep this at low temps (45 degrees) most of the time, although it will most likely...

And yes, I am able to use studs. I also am sheathing my walls with 5/8" plywood, so some additional strength will be available from those
