    Garage lighting (on a budget)

Platonic Solid - Thank you! The cantilevered dining room and the view down to the lower level was one of the selling points for us. As for toddlers, I don't have those anymore!

    Garage lighting (on a budget)

I do like the 6500K actually. I wasn't sure I would but the light is better in person than the photos suggest and all the light bouncing off the ceiling gives a fair bit of indirect light as well. I'm thinking I might paint the ceiling white to enhance this effect further. I know the fixtures...

    Garage lighting (on a budget)

Just moved into a new home a few months back and the workshop was randomly lit with various old florescent fixtures. I pulled those down and replaced with two packs of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PF5MKWC/?tag=atomicindus08-20 They are 8 packs and plenty bright on my 8.5ft...

Starting over in a unique workshop

You've hit the nail on the head here. Humidity control is my biggest concern at the moment. When I purchased the home the entire house had a musty smell. It had been sitting empty for two years while the children decided how to go about selling their deceased parents home. The first thing...

It's funny how we get the Brady bunch house reference a fair bit. I'm in Georgia.

Starting over in a unique workshop

Here are a few shots of the house. It's got a mid century modern vibe and a fantastic layout. All the stonework is from a huge boulder that was on the property when the home was under construction. It has several acres of woods and a creek at the back of the property. I couldn't have asked...

Starting over in a unique workshop

It is loud in there for sure. I've taken to wearing earpro when doing anything in there with power. Thanks for the thoughts on sound baffles, I'll work on figuring that out. As far as paint, I do plan to paint the shop though all white would be bright once I've upgraded the lighting.

Starting over in a unique workshop

Hello Gents, this is sort of a reintroduction thread as I've been here a long while now but not posted much. I've been through a rough time of it over the past few years dealing with divorce. Now that I have all that behind me I have recently purchased a home with several interesting...

Show your Unistrut / Superstrut designs

Hello all, I just purchased a home with a workshop built under a two vehicle car port. Concrete slab for all four walls as well as the ceiling and floor. The ceiling has a massive beam running the length of the shop and smaller I beams running out to the foundation walls to support the...

    New attached workshop

Hello all, I'm looking for ideas. I have just finished exterior walls and roof for a 12x22 attached workshop with new concrete floor. The space is dried in but literally nothing else has been done at this point. I'm working on an electrical/lighting plan this weekend. The shop has a fairly...

Hard hard concrete. How to attach base plate?

That's why I chose it. I went through three bits in ten holes and I had quite a few to go and it just wasn't worth the hassle.

Hard hard concrete. How to attach base plate?

This is what I did and the walls I put up are solid. I agree that the base plate would be destroyed before it would move.

BIG thumbs up to the Costco Work Bench

Yeah, I just picked one up the other day. I haven't set it up yet as I'm still finishing up my shop space. Flooring goes in next week if I get the tiles in.
