    Garage Door Safety Sensor Protection

Since I grew up with no sensors I bolted mine to the ceiling supports that my GDO hangs on. No fuss BUT, I double check the doors before I close them. I have a lot of **** in the laser mounting area

Squaring New Garage to the road

A laser tape measure. Question is though, at 200’, I would look more at the orientation for the best sun exposure and wind break

    Steel top for workbench

If there’s still time, I added a 3” flat top on the backsplash to hold paint cans, brake clean and anything else that fits. I don’t have any available pictures, but essentially an upside down L that goes towards the wall. Yes it pushes the bench out from the wall an extra few inches, but...

    Roofing costs ridiculous?

I think a lot of you are only looking at this from the consumer perspective. Yes, some of the numbers that have been posted are insanely high, but $12k for a roof while not great isn't all that bad. I'm not a roofer, but a business owner. There's a TON of overhead some are overlooking...

    freezing paint rollers and brushes

Been there, not worth the frozen popsicle the next day you have to thaw. Wrap in a thick plastic bag, I like to use the heavy duty Husky garbage bags from HD. Grocery bags breathe. Leave in a cool damp place, this keeps the moisture from evaporating. Conversely, I see rollers as...

    Shop Build Excavator Experience

I just bought that exact machine except with an enclosed cab. I haven't had the chance to use it yet. How was it??

How to remove this 4" strip of concrete?

A 4 1/2" angle grinder will not do what you want it to. The slab is likely 3" thick. Rent a quickcut and make easy work of it. Water attachment to reduce dust, but it produces a nasty little slurry. Clean it off before it dries. Personally, I would replace what you cut out with...

Gas leaf blower impeller nut keeps coming loose

I see what looks like a little tab on the washer directly behind the nut, is this correct? If so, that's supposed to be pried forward toward the nut to lock it in place. If not, steel locking nut with red locktite.

    Cement non-working fireplace floor

The floor already looks lower. Install the brick. Who cares if it's a step up. Use a contour gauge to cut the hardwood to **** up if necessary.

Clay fill for pole barn build

Of course it is. A french drain is not a sponge. It will take any excess water that's in the soil that's makes it's way to the drain, but that's it. Water WILL make its way in there. This is landscape 101 with many years and use cases behind it from ICPI, International Concrete Paver...

Clay fill for pole barn build

Do not fill with clay. Spend the extra few bucks and backfill with clear stone. If you have clay, you will want to remediate the soil. Spread lime, 50lb bag per 100sqft. Then add 3/4 clear and pack that into the clay. You're attempting to bring the ratio of fines to large stone to...

air for blasting: filter first or regulator first?

Man, you guys are REALLY trying to confuse the guy! It's filter then regulator, to keep the crud out of the regulator. Both plumbed in as far away from the compressor as possible.

Mobile tool box - ideas & insights needed!

I finally figured out multi-quoting! I will keep an eye on the slides. I've had the box 6-7 years with nearly zero use, to me its almost new. They still make this box and at the price point, toss it every 3 or 4 years and get a new one for $179 seems like a no-brainer. It's going to get...
