How do I fill my shop with music?

I have always had mid range receivers, onkyo, Harman kardon etc. And Polk audio speakers and cheaper subs. I have been pleased with them and the setups are relatively inexpensive. That all changed with my new shop. 50x60 and we do outdoor gatherings a lot too. This year I bit the bullet and went...

    Cleanburn CB-90-AH help

I have a lanair mx150 so I am not familiar with clean burn but am familiar with the concept. A couple things to look at. Does your chimney have a draft regulator (flap) I believe it should. Does your setup have a metering pump or an adjustable bypass valve? Have you tried burning any straight #2...

Insulation around outside of the garage foundation

I am in north Dakota and the standard is 48" down with foam or 24" down AND 24" out. The latter is the easiest for a retrofit. Basically digging one excavator bucket width and lining the wall and trench bottom. It really does make a big difference. Sent from my SM-G960U using The Garage...

help, my oil burner is not working.

You may have to put some oil into the pump itself. They are finicky when they run dry. Unhook the line going to the burner and drain it into a bucket or something to determine if the problem is in the pumping side or the burner side. Sent from my SM-G960U using The Garage Journal mobile app

Cliff notes on lighting a 50x60

I might be able to find a pic. I'm not done but have a 50x60x16.i went with 13 250watt high Bay ufo lights I actually got off of wish.com. I have these in my shop and we have some in our shop at work. Over 2,000 hours on the ones at work and no troubles at all. I got them for $65 each with...

    Basement Dampness / moisture

For what it's worth, I have a well sealed finished basement 3 years old. No moisture problems. I put in a 75 gallon saltwater fish tank with no cover this year. In 6 months it has given off enough water vapor to give the old musty basement smell. I started using a dehumidifier, and the smell...

    Shop Stereo

Depends on your budget, I have multiple purposes for my shop speakers so I just upgraded to two electro voice 12" speakers and 15" off brand subs. All powered. In my 50x60 and the 125x250 at work, the best sound comes when I place the all speakers near the center of the end wall as high as I can...

    Lumens per sq/ft?

I'll give you some real world examples. My garage is 10' ceiling, 24x30 with can lights. 30 lumen per SF and does good for a garage. I would bump that to 50 if I was wrenching. My office with 10' ceilings is about the same different can lights and different layout but same result and With the...

Heat loss calculations for a pole barn

80% efficient heaters. They run between 25 and 75 percent of the time when it's cold. 2 14x14 r21 doors. 1 man door and 3 4x4 windows all rated for northern some. A door is opened 1 or 2 times a day. I keep them at 60 degrees all the time. Shop was house wrapped on the exterior and poly in the...

Heat loss calculations for a pole barn

Real world example. My new 50x60x16 in ND with r19 walls and r40 ceiling is using a 150kbtu waste oil heater. It keeps up just fine even in the -15 degree weather we had today. My 700 SF garage has a 40kbtu hanging gas heater. I would say you want a 75kbtu heater in your shop based on mine that...

    Driveway cracks... fill or not?

I'll just add that in addition to water infiltration, cracks left alone will start to deteriorate the asphalt on both edges. Eventually it will turn into a dip that will continually get worse. Good job filling them in.
