Thanks for the tip. I was a boy scout, and recall learning the proper way to hang it, but that knowledge has left my brain. I do still remember the proper way to fold and store the flag.
Thanks also to MoparTrucks for your input re: load capacity of the upper floor.
I had the local barn...
Thanks for the replies. I do ****...its a sweet old barn:rocker:
Location is Bucks County, PA.
I will attempt to answer questions and keep this thread alive.
The wooden bridge continues to slope upwards in order to get to the second level, and that back wall of the barn is entirely stone...
Thanks for replies thus far...
the structure off the back is the ramp that allows equipment access to the 2nd floor of the barn. The "ramp" structure forms a bridge between the 2nd floor of the barn and a "land" ramp that was formed from earth and lots of large stones (probably cleared from...
Thanks. Preserving the structure and its historic integrity is important to me, but I am also interested in continuing its life as a "working" structure.
If I dug down below grade, I'd have myself an indoor swimming pool. Ground water is a huge issue in this area.
Hi GJ'ers
Purchased a property with acreage and my long term goal is to have car hobby space. The property has a beautiful historic stone barn in good condition, but will need some TLC. I have enough land that I could erect a purpose built structure "in the woods" and out of sight of the...
The "extension" area was built out as a livable studio apartment when I bought this place. Technically its not legal to rent it out, though there are a lot of illegal rental units in this city. I chose to convert the space to conforming use: my garage/workshop.
I have one unit in my...

Reposting some of the photos from that thread to provide context. My property is a multi-family rowhouse in Jersey City NJ (as the crow flies just 1.5miles from Manhattan).

Hi All...
I've now put this job out to bid. So far heard from 2 out of 3 contractors who came to survey the site and the quotes are both around 28k. That is fully finished, with paint and tile floor. Just curious for those in the trade or those who have BTDT if this is in the right ballpark...
The lift is going into the "studio space." I want to be able to have the hobby car in project status while still being able to come and go with the daily driver in the original section of the garage.
Rear wall is not load bearing...just sheet rock and aluminum framing members.
The first floor...
Its not a condo or 'special' community so no condo/homeowner association to deal with. I own the building and the tiny piece of land it sits on. Immediate neighbors are both absentee landlords so they will not bother me.
Thanks for responses thus far...
With a car in the space I will have a lot less room in there, but hopefully the engine I built won't blow up anytime soon, so I'm not planning on building a lot of engines. Keeping the doors shut and the space separate from the original existing garage area...
Hey everyone. My first post here. I am planning my mancave and am interested in soliciting inputs from folks. Have been browsing around looking at other's garage projects...there are so many great looking set-ups here. Mine will be small and necessarily simple given the space constraints...
