    Anyone have one of these?

They make a tire lift that has rollers on it and a pneumatic ram for lifting. I was thinking of trying to build one myself, but for now the table works well enough. If I only have one tire off, the lugs are usually still aligned.

Metal chop saw chip collection ideas? (Evolution S14MCS saw)

I know EVO sells a magnet for the purpose, Curious how well it works. Maybe a magnet in a bag and some cardboard.

Question for the 12V Lithium battery guys regarding testing..

Without accessing the BMS or monitoring total current flow, I'm not sure there is a better way to measure SOC than direct resting voltage measurement. This is the rough estimation I use. Before I had the Battery Monitor I just had this chart printed off and stuck to the wall by a volt meter. It...

Question for the 12V Lithium battery guys regarding testing..

The problem is it's much smaller voltage gradient from fully charged to flat. I use a general rule of thumb 13.6+ is full, 12.8 is flat. The meter you are using is likely calibrated to lead acid, so 12.8 is still fully charged (100%). For a better idea I use a shunt that measures power out and...

Tool Organisation Was the Wrong Question — We Should Optimize for Speed of Retrieval, Certainty of Return & Protection of Value of tools.

I use a version of that philosophy... My Most used tools are in my Job box. 40" wide x 24" deep and whatever standard height is with an open workbench top. My most used tools are sockets, so the top drawer is my socket drawer. It's not my only socket drawer, and it doesn't have every socket...

Building a router table, need advise please.

My cousin was a cabinet maker and had this round router table with at least 4 routers mounted in it, all with their own fences. He could have different ones set at different heights with different bits and very quickly knock out pieces with multiple cuts. It was on casters so he could turn the...

Socket Foam - Most Space Efficient?

Love my VIM magrails. Too bad they got so expensive. I have enough extra socket sets to justify buying another set, but my bank account doesn't.

My 3/8 TQ wrench is so old they aren't made anymore (craftsman) so I don't have any advice. I just replied because we both have puppers in our profile pic.

    Secure your toolbox

Only open one drawer at a time. Lock the drawers when moving them. I also dislike top boxes. All my boxes have latches so the drawers don't open themselves. I've been a mechanic for 40 years. The only time I've seen a box tip was when someone moved them without locking the drawers or due to...

Does Your Body Hurt Less with a Lift?

Found it used on Marketplace, didn't really fit my van but I made it work. My last campervan was a canvas pop top, this one with real glass windows and real screens is much better. The original manufactuer was Chefs Campers, I guess they were based in WA but they were before the internet and...
