Thank you for all the input. I'm going to hold off on any noise reduction plans until I have all my junk, I mean treasures, in the shop and it is up and running.
Sorry, let me clarify a bit. I fully intend to wear hearing protection when using loud tools. I just want to know if there are any good suggestion for lowering the noise in general in the shop.
I am in the process of finishing the inside of my 1500sq ft pole barn and I'm discovering it has a noise problem. The walls and ceiling are reflecting noise very well and it worries me that when I start running some loud tools it might become unbearable. The shop is insulated with closed cell...
Thank you all for your advice. I had thought that the quartz was going to be overkill for my application but it is nice to have that confirmed. I am now concerned about the slipperiness of the floor though. I do plan to have a section of the shop set up as a wood working area so sawdust will...
I am in the process of finishing the interior of a 1500sq/ft pole barn that I plan to set up as a machine shop and wood working shop. After reading many, many posts on this forum about epoxy flooring I have decided to spend the money and install an epoxy floor. My big concern is about durability...
Thank you all for confirming my suspicion. The prices I am seeing are roughly $8 at Lowes and Home Depot and $10 at several lumber stores. Don't know about the quality difference between the two. This is for 7/16" non tongue and groove.

I'm about to put up OSB on the interior walls of my pole barn and was wondering what thickness to use. Is 7/16" acceptable or is it worth the extra money to get 5/8" or 3/4"? I will need roughly 50 sheets so the cost difference may come into play. I would like to be able to mount shelves on the...
I am going to look at a used 60 gallon air compressor tank tomorrow and I'm curious what red flags I should be looking for. This is just a bare tank, no compressor. The current owner says that it has no rust on the outside and he just had it pumped up to 130 psi and it held for several days...
Thank you all very much for your input! You have saved me several hundreds of dollars that is now better spent on tools.
It seems like many people have used Kilz oil primer instead of Zinsser. Is that simply because of price/availability or is the general consensus is that they will work just...
I am about to prime my OSB ceiling and walls in my pole barn and I'm torn on which primer to get. After reading many, many threads on this topic I have decided to use a Zinsser primer. My question is which one? I know to use either an oil or shellac based primer and avoid water based on OSB...
