What "Clear Coat" do Etsy sellers use on steel?

I'm pretty sure "don't do it" is the typical recommendation, but I see nice steel brackets, legs, etc on Etsy that make me want to do it anyway and see how it goes. What clear coat would be least bad?

    AHP Alpha TIG 201XD - is 220V @ 30A ok?

Installing receptacle & breaker. I have 10GA Romex and a 30A 220V breaker on hand. Will I be tripping the 30A breaker? I'm not using the welder full-time (welding is a side-hobby to my side-hobby), but would like to crank it up occasionally. Is a 30A breaker ok? Or will the 201XD try to...

HF $89 Compact Bender vs $37 BN Hickey Bar

Thanks for the counsel! I'll go for the HF one. Would a conduit bender work for rebar? I imagine no, but I'd hate to overlook using something I already have. (1/2" Klein)

    Very helpful considerations. Thank you.

HF $89 Compact Bender vs $37 BN Hickey Bar

If it can be used for bending flat stock (which that seems to be the case) then I'd probably use it quite a bit. From what I can tell, the hick tool doesn't have any advantages (tighter radius, etc)

HF $89 Compact Bender vs $37 BN Hickey Bar

I'd like to bend rebar. And probably other stuff. I see the Hickey Bar's about $37 and promises to bend up to 5/16 rebar. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L4ASFA2/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Then I recall the HF compact metal bender for $89 which seems a lot more versatile for bending other stuff...

MIG Technique Advice? Wire initially pushes parts apart

I weld occasionally. Often when I first start welding, the wire pushes the parts apart before the metal is fully heated if the parts aren't clamped down well. Is this typically something related to under-voltage? Too fast wire speed? I see guys on YouTube holding a small part w/ one...

What's the TIG equivalent of a Hobart 140 MIG? Looking to go TIG

If I have a tank already for MIG can I use that still and just get Argon instead of the 75/25 mix I’ve been using?

What's the TIG equivalent of a Hobart 140 MIG? Looking to go TIG

Oooh, I only considered steel, but I'd very much like to do aluminum.

What's the TIG equivalent of a Hobart 140 MIG? Looking to go TIG

I have a Hobart 140 that I like, but I envy the clean, precise TIG welds. My 2-car garage is primarily a wood shop. Each time I fire up the MIG I open the garage, wheel the cart outside, and block off tools that have sawdust sitting them in case a stray spark launches far. From watching a...

Wicked Fast Shop Drawers. ...(for those who are intimidated by drawer slides as I onc

Here’s how I’ve been building shop drawers for the past 5 years. They’ve all held up perfectly well with zero issues even when full of paint or nuts and bolts. This video is not intended for the artisan woodworker, but rather the doer who simply wants to crank out some drawers and keep on...

Strategic COLOR Usage in the Shop - (new video on Workspace Usability)

Yikes. I'm afraid the solution to your problem will involve negative consequences including demerits or pain.

Yeah it is the sort of common sense that is rarely intentionally implemented.

Strategic COLOR Usage in the Shop - (new video on Workspace Usability)

Strategic color usage has helped solve several usability issues in my shop - especially related to finding/identifying things quickly. It's not about measuring tapes really. Nor is it about bananas. It's about setting up our shops to free up our minds. Anyway, here it is ~11 minutes...
