The roll out stuff is usually in width of 7' - 10' wide so there's just one seam down the middle or maybe two depending on how wide your garage is and how wide the pieces are. And they do get sealed with soem sort of tape or something. Here's an example from Walmart...

My thought was to keep the salt and water from eating away at the floor, it might be better to use something that doesn't let the water through and instead would let the water run off out the garage door without ever touching the cement. I don't know if that would really help things or not but...
