First garage was my Dad's. Precast concrete panel construction, 16' x 8'. How I actually rebuilt two Ford Escorts, a MK3 Cortina and a 1980 Subaru 4 door saloon in that space I will never know! This was all in a 1950s council estate in Lanarkshire, while there was still a steel industry. When it came to DIY and gardening - my dad would turn his hand to anything - with cars, he hadn't a clue where to start, so the garage soon became my domain. I now live in a 1960s house in Ayrshire, with a garage not much larger, but I dream! Dream of one day having a 'fit for purpose' garage where I can work on our cars, and my bikes to my hearts content!
