What did you do "IN" your garage today?

@Beerhippie: You might check one of the Subaru specific forums. I don't know the difference between those alternators but I bet somebody does.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Well, yesterday actually. I bit the bullet and moved the snowblower to storage for the off-season. I discovered that the battery on the lawn tractor is dead. I'll probably put a charger on it later today. Later, my daughter's partner and I put a trailer hitch on my car. Just bolt-on but some...

    ZMotorsports Shop Projects 2.0

Some in the Subaru community have taken to doing similar things with cows. I have yet to be moo-ed. Let's hope it stays that way. No unnecessary mods on my car.

    Show your new tool arrivals

Since both of our cars have that ridiculous electric parking brake, I thought I should invest in the piston retractor kit before I had to do rear brakes on either one. Also got 120 vinyl cling oil change stickers. Big fun in the garage!

Confess: What Tool Did You Not Really Need But Bought Anyhow? (Silly Stuff Included)

A few years ago I bought a set of S-K metric line wrenches while they were still made in USA. I'm not sure I've ever used one, but they're like jewelry, the chrome is so nice.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Not a whole lot. I got a set of Weathertech front floor mats and a rear cargo tray today. Outside temp was about 11* and inside the garage wasn't much warmer. I got the fronts in, no problem but the rear cargo tray came rolled up. It's currently in the living room warming up and flattening...

Nice job. I used to do that stuff for a living.

Extra long extensions. 24 inches and up. Do you use them?

I used to use them on #8 sparkplug on Chevy vans. (P30?) I'd go in through the wheel well. Not much since but ya never know...

What do you use the bottom shelf on your service cart for?

I have the 4 drawer cart from HF, the older version. The bottom shelf is where my jackstands live.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Oil change & tire rotation on my '14 Outback. It takes me longer but it's still significantly cheaper to do it myself. I milked that job all afternoon. Shop heater and radio made for some pleasant garage time without interruptions. I may find some other projects to piddle with tomorrow.

Diy parts assembly/disassembly stainless steel, sheetmetal, etc

I'm always trying to get Mrs. B's cast-off cookie sheets and muffin tins. They're great both in the garage and the electronics bench.

Chain saw engine instantly cuts off when applying chain brake

My Stihl has a roller bearing between the clutch and crankshaft. I've had those bearings fail and seize. It's a good idea to periodically remove, clean and re-lube. I keep a spare in my chainsaw tool box.

What Tools have you Broke? What Caused them to Break?

14mm 3/8" drive Snap-on deep well that split trying to remove wheel hub bolts on a Subaru. It was 40 or so years old so I just went and bought a replacement generic socket from the auto parts store. It didn't owe me anything
