    Tripod Chain Vises

Anyone have any feedback on the Milwaukee tripod chain Vise vs the RIDGID Tripod Chain vise? These seem to be the most popular out there and wanted to see what people thought before buying one for the crew.

    Hammer time!

Sledge hammer questions for the group. I have had a 4 lb and 10 lb hickory handled sledge hammer for years. It has come time to replace the handles again and I am debating a more durable solution. A friend mentioned the Wilton BASH hammers (they seem pricey) but I have been looking at various...

    Hammer time!

From experience, it is a mixed bag. The advertised weight on some hammers is the whole hammer (trusty cook dead blow), others it is just the head (typically sledge, engineers, drilling, ball peen), and some it is the head + a portion of the handle (claw, framing, dead blow and others). there...

Who makes the best Dead blow hammers?

When you buy a dead blow that has 42 oz. engraved on it, do you expect the whole hammer to be 42 oz. or just the weight of the head of the hammer? I feel the one I have is a defect.

Who makes the best Dead blow hammers?

I this actually a dead blow (steel shot inside) or is it just weighted with replaceable faces? I have seen both from Nupla.

Who makes the best Dead blow hammers?

Thanks for all the feedback! As you may have noticed, I don't post too often. I do a little bit of everything. Some Automotive work, little bit of metal fab., general maintenance, and a little woodwork when the job calls for it. Just looked up Lixie and I had never heard of them before. The...

Who makes the best Dead blow hammers?

Ya, your right. I should have done a poll, I didn't think that through. What do you think of the Nupla with replaceable faces? Do you see a benefit to the replaceable faces? I was looking at Halder, they have something similar. I had a Stanley years ago and the grip was not the most comfortable.

Who makes the best Dead blow hammers?

I have looked at Halder (forgot to add them to the list) and noticed they have a Nylon face vs. polyurethane. Do you have applications were the nylon is too hard? How often do you change out the faces? I just saw the Impact poly hammers at world of concrete. They looked really good and the...

Who makes the best Dead blow hammers?

I have been doing research on dead blow hammers for my shop and there are a ton of brands with different offerings. Who in your opinion makes the best and why do you like them? Here are some brands I have looked at: - Nupla - Stanley - Trusty cook (Make: Tekton, Matco, Capri, etc.) - Estwing -...

    auto body hammers and dollies?

I have heard of Picard! Is there a big difference between them and Martin? I think Picard was bought by Halder Hammers. Have you ever used or heard of them? They make some great replaceable soft faced hammers IMO. Tough to beat German quality!

    auto body hammers and dollies?

Any benefits to the wood style vs. fiberglass? I see Martin and a few others have a fiberglass option which seems like a longer term alternative but wood handles seem to be most common.
