Ok how long before concrete ?

Depends on what size compactor but I would prefer 6-8" lifts. Unless is was spec'd by the engineer. Put a vapor barrier down, compact again and pour. Done.

    Drilling through epoxy

It wont chip or crack outside of the hole. Working on a large project now, 3 coat epoxy floor and drilling hundreds of holes for pipe stands in it. Epoxy, then tap con or wedge anchor bottom plate.

    Exposing interior brick wall

Fire stop spray down in, leaving it below the floor then use a caulk that remains flexible to seal at the floor level.

Blocking in the wall for cabinets and toughening sheetrock.

If its behind cabinets, cut out a rectangle all the way and screw plywood in. If the studs are open, screw in 2x4 or 2x6's inbetween studs. Another option for some items are the zip toggles. They are rated for over 100lbs each though they are not cheap.

    Heat Tape Through Joists

This is a small room and in the winter we usually keep the door closed to the bathroom and office as its off the living room and lets cold air in. Whoever built this thing did a "quality" job. I'm confident that there is not enough heat coming from above to keep the lines from freezing. I had...

    Heat Tape Through Joists

Thanks all. I wanted to avoid leaving the faucet dripping, thats the whole point of removing all this. I think pulling out the lines, running under the joists with heat tape and fiberglass wrapped insulation will be the answer.

    Heat Tape Through Joists

Hey everyone, I think i know the answer to this but wanted to get some other opinions. Last year i had a plumber run pex lines in a crawl space for a new half bath in what used to be a porch that was enclosed years ago. This is not a heated crawl space. The plumber ran the pex through the...

    Is this asbestos

You cannot tell by looking at it if it is asbestos. They used asbestos in drywall mud among thousands of other items. Get it tested. I know in Syracuse a home owner can dispose of 10sf of asbestos at a time in there general waste. Working in construction i have seen pipe wrap side by side and...

    Working with steel framing

To do something with a door, especially a larger roll up door you would use similar framing techniques but use a heavier gauge than they stock. A building supply house should have it. Stock stuff at the big box is 20 gauge, you want something more like 16 gauge, you will need self drilling...

Help! New slab in pole barn, new water damage!

Water takes the path of least resistance. If you dig up the outside and install a drain pipe (with perforations) and back fill gravel around it the water will go that way instead of into your building. You could add a waterproof membrane to the outside but i think it would be expensive and...

Looking for tips on fixing up an old detached garage (photos inside)

Pics don't work for me. Why go over good siding? It won't gain you hardly anything in R vaule and that money could be better spent on insulating the stud bays and vapor barrier. Run your electrical and sheetrock. If you want heat, drop in a wood stove, electric heat or if you want to run gas out...

Brick or stone on Pole Barn... How?

Do you want a true foundation? That means that all the wood framing comes off the stone. I think you just want to remove the siding and put stone up a couple feet. Is that correct? You will still need a footer of some sort to support the stone.
