    FEMA elevation certificate section E?

PGOLDSTON, I'd suggest obtaining the clarification you seek through your local (usually county official in my part of the world) flood plain manager / administrator.

    FEMA elevation certificate section E?

Had a very similar situation to OP's a couple of years ago when we wanted to build on property adjacent to local river. Property was shown to be in Zone A Flood Zone but no Base Flood Elevation. I can't recall the technical FEMA process designation, but we were required to get a survey...

Hummingbirds stuck in shop - Ideas ?

My old red truck in the garage attracts the buggers like nothing else! It's pitiful to watch them bump along the ceiling. They can't seem to find an open door even when their bumping away along the ceiling inches from the opening. More often than not, I open the garage doors at dusk and turn...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Glad to share. You've asked about the grinder stand but I'm thinking you may have meant the band saw stand that I fabricated? The tool stands for both the bench grinder and portable band saw you see in the background are just doug fir 2x4s with some scrap 3/4 ply for the stand tops. The...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Finished up a chop saw stand project using material from the left-overs bin. Used 1-1/4 square tube (with a couple of 1-1/2 tube 'sleeves') and recycled jon boat seat swivel for saw base. Very stable. Will probably tweak it a bit more, like adding a catch tray for small cut pieces, but glad...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I shopped around a bit for the switch and found the one I used on Amazon (you can also find it on Ebay and elsewhere - even Home Depot I think). Its a Powertec 71006 (Chinese, of course). I picked it because it met the size and electrical specs I needed and was inexpensive (under $6). Also...

    Symmetrical 2-post lift question

Installed the same model in shop earlier this year. Very impressed with quality and operation!

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Thanks Rmalkow2. I'm happy with it. Gathered up parts from the scrap bin... the 3x3 tube provided a clean way to mount a switch (since the Dewalt trigger has to be zip-tied in the 'on' position) and had the added benefit of hiding the extra cord within its cavity. Mounted the tool handle on...

    ceiling fan

I just built a 32'x44' shop with 10' walls and installed a 60" ceiling fan over my workbench / layout table area (primary work area). I find that it makes a real difference on warm summer days. Haven't had the need to use it this winter. Have only needed heat a few times so far.

New 2-post lift fits 9-foot ceilings. PHOTOS

This thread has been a good read. I strongly suspect there is a market segment that will respond very favorably to the new lift offering. Also appreciate the questions and efforts to provide detailed answers related to product manufacturing and safety. Having recently purchased, and now...

How important is garage closely matching house style?

I prefer the 'complimenting structures' idea where possible. Over the years, I've worked with matching and non-matching shop and home. Here's what we've done for our just completed 'retirement' home and shop.

Beautiful old International Cornbinder, and some creative mods. I too sort of lean toward the 'dark side' of mildly customized old trucks, but I can't hold a candle to where you've gone with yours. Nice work!

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Dropped the steering unit from my '50 Ford pickup. Blown seal. New 2 post lift sits idle. Waiting on lift arm adapters for old trucks with running boards.

    Epoxy primer opinions and options

I'm a real fan of SPI's epoxy primer as well. The quality is superb. And if you're just shooting the firewall and frame, you shouldn't need more than a quart of primer and the same of activator, for the 1:1 mix required. About $70 total at today's price, I think.
