let's see your craftsman block grinders

That's kind, let me know. I got it all mostly cleaned up (still trying to decide on a resto or not), wirebrushed the lamp gooseneck and wiped it with Johnson's paste wax, buffed the black shade so it doesn't look all dull and scratched, dressed the wheels (which look to be the originals), and...

let's see your craftsman block grinders

New to me, just picked it up this morning. Whole $25 at a garage sale. It spins up immediately, no grunting to get the wheels moving. Has the gooseneck, shade, quench tray, wheel covers, pretty much everything....all it's missing are the spark arrestors. But, if I was stuck fabbing a part I...

    Craftsman 351.22632 1x42 Sander Platen

Just to close this up I got around to fabbing the platen for this sander. One of the measurements was different from the above drawing but that certainly got me on my way. I grunted through a hack saw, drill press, files, and finally finishing on the sander on a slack belt but it works great...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Ok, so it's a cheap Taiwan vise I got for $10. But, it will be my first bench vise and it will certainly work until I luck into something else better. As bought: After oxalic acid bath and wire wheel (ran out of OA, need some more for the swivel locks): Cleaned up some flash from the...

    Vehicle Ramps

I'll throw in for Rhino Ramps too. I got the Max ones, the 16000lb. pair even though I only have passenger cars and a minivan. Never, ever felt unsafe under them. I do look them over before each use though because, well, I'm me.

    Craftsman 351.22632 1x42 Sander Platen

Well here it is after a light cleaning and de-rusting the tables and some of the hardware. I didn't square the tables yet nor check the belt tracking but it looks pretty good. Happy camper thus far!

    Craftsman 351.22632 1x42 Sander Platen

Oh wow, you guys are fantastic! I picked it up today $50 and the PO had replaced the idler bearings because he didn't want to sell it squealing like it did. It's pretty darned quiet. Metal idlers, cast iron tables (which are now in an oxalic acid bath), cast iron frame...what's not to like...

    Craftsman 351.22632 1x42 Sander Platen

Thanks for the welcome and the info. I'll see what I can find at those sites. If I have to fabricate one so be it. From the pic above, if I assume the upright part of the platen is exactly 1" wide I can probably extrapolate the rest of the dimensions close enough as you suggested. If you...

    Craftsman 351.22632 1x42 Sander Platen

Greetings, first post! I have a line on the Craftsman belt/disc sander in the title. However, it's missing the platen. Of course the part is unavailable from Sears/Craftsman. It looks like this: I wondered if someone had the same machine that would be willing to measure or take pics of...
