    Wrapped fluorescents

I have used these units in both garages... the attached/house garage, for over 10 years...no yellowing. Radio interference in the new detached garage, no interference in the house garage. Must recheck my grounds. Also, you can buy three different temperature bulbs for t-8 units. I like the...

Any good links for building your own cabinets and drawers?

My only comment would be two use 24" doors on the 48" cabinets...12" will be quite narrow for access. Good luck with the build. Kirby

    Fluorescent light radio interference

I have just installed 10 Lithonia 4' T-8 fixtures in my detached garage. Lots of light, no noise or hum. However, they cause noise/static on my boom-box radio on FM. I did not notice this in my attached garage with three of the same units and same boom-box. Lights are grounded, radio is not...

    dumb electrical question

Clarification: My understanding is all 120V outlets, reachable from the floor require GFCI. Those on the ceiling, or 220V(I have five separate 220V circuits) do not. This was the explanation I got from my county inspector. Have I got this right? I am in the midst of wiring as we speak. Kirby

    VA Garage Gang

One more NoVA guy. I am out near Warrenton/Marshall. Just finishing up a 30x36' detached garage. Always looking for floor/lift/cabinet ideas. Just had eye surgery two weeks ago, so driving is limited. May try to make it if you are still on. Kirby

    New home electrical connection

Just finishing up a detached garage/shop(1100 sq. feet). My rural electric coop came out and estimated the cost to run 200 amp service 140' from our transformer to a new meter base...a little over $2000. I pay $120 up front, then sign a contract for service for at least 4 years at a minimum of...

Why does everyone choose to add FLAKES?

Super Ford: I am curious... how often does your dealership recoat the floor? My local GM/Pontiac dealer does it once a year over one three-day weekend. I found this out because I mentioned how good the floor looked(light gray). Kirby

what kind of welder do i need?

RJY: Boy did you open up a can of worms...you might as well of asked who to vote for next November. That said, my two cents: I agree with e-tek about the oxy-acetylene set. There is so much you can do with it, but it does take some practice. Probably $300+ for a set, and then you need...

    Building tall cabinets..?

Djjsr is right(and your cabinets look great)...you can do a lot with those hollow core luan (or birch) doors...and they are cheap. I have used them for shelves, doors, made a small knock-down closet for my daughter at University, etc. And ditto to 2002...decent table-saw and out feed table...

    compressor question

Sounds like we have some experts here, and I am certainly not one, but... I think Kevin is sorta right. I have been using a 3hp, 30 gal. Craftsman for years, and when my present garage project gets completed I will buy a 5hp, 60gal, 2 stage compressor of middle-of-the-road quality($800-1000)...

    PTHP or Split-Mini???

I was going to start a new thread, but will post here. I have similar heat/cool questions. I am starting a 30x36x10.5' detached garage, fully insulated(6" walls). I want to put in a thru-wall (electric) unit. Recommendations for type of unit and btu size would be appreciated. I have looked...
