Thanks folks. I tried the big stretch approach. it was not quite as clean as I hoped for, but not too bad either. Garage door replacement is coming tomorrow so I wanted to have that in-place prior to install. Thanks for the feedback all!

Alright. I'll give that a try. Originally I thought the 1/2" gap was too pig to caulk (especially upside down), but it's worth a shot.
