Better Way to Not Get Smushed by HF Jackstands

I've had a set of these for a few years now and they work well for my "fun" car - a 1991 BMW E30 which is light and pretty low to the ground. I superglued on a set of jack pads to help protect the pinch weld -...

Two Floor Jacks - Help Me Decide

Unfortunately jacks are one of the items that are excluded from the 20% off coupons. :( With a bit of looking around you can find a coupon for the Daytona jack for $179.99. I haven't used the Napa jack but recently picked up the Daytona jack, it's really nice. I'm just a home user but loving...

    SK socket set, pre war

IMHO removing the patina would be a crime. I vote leave it as is.

    Quick grab socket set.

+1 to a semi-deep 3/8" set for a quick grab and go. I also have a set of the Gearwrench semi-deeps on the rail they came with and they have been very handy in and out of the house when I'm away from the garage.

    Any ratcheting wrench recommandations ?

I used a set of Gearwrench reversibles for many years doing just about everything as a home DIY person working on my cars every weekend and still have those Gearwrenchs in the toolbox I take with me to the track. When I had the $ I bought a set of Armstrong reversibles for my main toolbox and I...

    Your Favorite Hammer

My 3 favorites: - HF Dead blow - My grandfather's ball peen hammer - Estwing Ultra Series Off the 3 my grandfather's hammer is my usual go to for just about everything unless it's something I need to beat the living day lights out of something, or something the Estwing is a bit more suited...

    Ryobi One+

I picked up their One+ brad nailer and it was a champ for me doing a ton of board & batten style trim in my master bedroom this past weekend. I'm just a home DIY guy and most of my cordless tools are Makita but the Ryobi brad nailer + battery & charger kit were less than the Makita cordless...

1/2 Drive Sockets - Chrome or Impact?

I got by for many years with just a set of standard & deep 6 point metric impacts as my only 1/2 sockets. I eventually ran into a few cases where they were too thick to fit where I needed and a 3/8 with 1/2 adapter didn't fit or was a bad idea so I finally picked up a 1/2 regular socket set...

    Show your new tool arrivals

Yes although I also picked up a pair of 6" cutters (#436) to use since that's the size I prefer. The 7" cutters that came with the HD kit I added to the toolbox on my garage.

    Show your new tool arrivals

Got tired of using some random cheap pliers, cutters, etc in my junkyard/rental house handyman toolbox so picked up some Channellock goodness to replace the old junky ones with. I'll never buy/keep cheap junky cutters or pliers (especially cutters) again. Not sure where I got these to begin...

Another +1 for the Precision Sensors/Franklin sensor. Love mine.

SK long patten combo wrenches vs. standard

I don't have a set of SK regular but this can give you an idea. SK's regular length is comparable to Craftsman. In order: - Craftsman regular (SK regular are about the same length) - SK long pattern - Snap On - Armstrong ratcheting It's maybe an extra inch in length but you'd be surprised...

    Budget Racing Shop

That should be a fun ride! If the 535i parts car has an AFM with a part number that ends in "027" (should be on the top black plastic piece) and you don't need it let me know what you want for it... something I'm looking for to experiment with on my E30.

My fingers are crossed that pans out. I'm in. Keep an eye on the NJ BMW CCA forums for potential cars: http://www.njbmwcca.org/forum/index.php?c=7 That's where I found my E30 and when I check there from time to time I often find what look to me to be pretty good deals on well sorted cars vs...
