Critique my compressed air plumbing plans.

It seems like a lot of hose reels for such a small space. I have one overhead 50' reel that cost me about $250 that takes care of the entire shop. If you will have multiple mechanics working, I can see it. If not get one really nice reel, and save the cost. If your going to add a sand blast or...

    Projection monitor for garage wall?

Better check out the price of replacement bulbs before you buy a unit. A buddy of mine has a projector and the bulbs are more than $250 and only have a life of about 2000 hrs. I imagine that the bulb cost for some units may be less than others. Kipp

Any problem putting compressor on casters?

I had my 80 gal on casters for the last year, no problems. I used hard rubber wheel casters, about 3" diameter so it would roll easily. They lock when I don't want it to roll. I have my compressor between a closet and a wall, so it needed to roll to do the maintenance. Kipp

How close can a two post lift go to a side wall?

I you run the beams that close to the wall there will be no room to walk around the car being worked on. I have a 3' space on either side and would have liked more. When the car is fully up on the lift, you can go under it. When it's fully down you might be able to squeeze between a post and the...

    FNG w/question on cheap-o welder/plasma

I have one of the Parkermetalworks machines. It's a plasma, stick, tig machine. The plasma function works real good. I've cut out sheet metal parts, floorpans, 3/16" steel to repair a frame, and 3/8" steel. The 3/8" was slow going but it did work. There is alot of info on one of the 4x4 websites...

    frame off

I am nearing completion on a total frame off resto on my 78' vette. This started as a rear end replacement, and I kept noticing just one more thing that needed doing. I finally just tore the whole thing apart and re-did it. I have a 3 car 2 story garage with an attic. I had the parts in all 3...

    I-Beam Lift

When I was adding a hoist to my garage, I just called up the metal dealer I was buying from, told him what I wanted to do, and he told me what size beam to buy. Kipp

    compresor plumbing????

Mine's been in over 6 months without any issues. So, all I can say is so far so good. I've got a 3 cylinder 18cfm Eaton compressor powered by a 6.5hp 220v motor feeding an 80 gal tank. I keep the whole thing at 135psi. These compressors have an anti-backflow valve in the tank so I'd guess the...

    compresor plumbing????

I just took my measurements, the end fittings, and went to my local NAPA. They made me a hydraulic hose that can stand upto 6000lbs pressure, it's nice and flexable too. Kipp

    HF wrenches and sockets

So far I've broken 2 HF imact sockets, 1 box end wrench and my knuckles. This was using the impact sockets on a breaker bar, as I didn't have an impact wrench at the time. I was not beating on the wrench either. HF did replace the tools, all I had to do is call them. Now I'm very leary of using...

    Advice on garage attic storage

When I did this in my garage attic, I sistered 2x6's to the 2x4 bottom plate of the truss. I did this to a point just past the 1st truss junction on either side. This not only stiffened up the floor of the attic, but gave me enough room to get in R-19. Which helps in the summer and winter...

    Garage door install

I installed mine over the drywall but not using it for support. I used slightly longer lag bolts into the framing behind the drywall. My door is a commercial 10x8 that lifts straight up to 16' high ceilings.
