I got my cat at harbor freight for 36 cents after a 20% off coupon, and it will do everything that your expensive cat will do. Fitment of its tail is a little off, but that wont affect function.

I got my thermal arc 185 for 1500, it was less than a year old, still has warranty left. Nice machine, lots of adjustability, and its an inverter, so less power consumption and portable.

I definitely think I will. I always busted my knuckles when the non locking flex joints flexed under load. Hopefully this eliminates those. The 1/2 is very strong, and smoothly engages/disengages, it also has a nice feel to it. the 1/4", on the other hand, is very small and since the teeth...

keep an eye on craigslist! I picked up a Jackson EQC professional variable for 35 bucks. Ebay has decent prices from time to time as well, as long as you arent looking at a popular model (anything miller, for instance).

I used the coupon code 'new tech' on matco's site (10% off total purchase), so I got all three for like 220. The 1/2" is 24" long, the 3/8" is 12" long, and the 1/4" is 6" long. I figured I cant hardly buy crapsman junk for that cheap (I know... I know... danaher owns them both... blah blah...
