Nice! Your tag is in beautiful condition. Mine is missing the quench cup unfortunately and the tag is beat, but I do have the eye shields. These seem to be fairly rare.

Those cast iron ones are the best! I believe they are called "pre-block". I have had all three versions but kept the 1/2 HP of course.

This is a good guess, but 6 holes seems excessive.

The guard acts as the bearing retainer on 3/4+ HP Baldors. These are for buffers, or a grinder with no guard. My other thought is possibly a belt sander attachment on the 3/4 hp.

I know buffers sometimes have guards, but I have not seen an official Baldor one.

I just said that they would hit the bell housing, not push the bearing. Besides, the bearing stops before the stator.

BTW, This is an official part from ABB, not a shop made modification. The holes are lined up with the edge of the bearing hole, so i think the screws would hit the end bell housing. My guess is for some sort of arbor cover, but I have not seen anything listed in the catalog.

Anyone know what these threaded holes are for on this buffer bearing retainer?

I have an opportunity to pick up a pair, but am unsure if they will fit correctly. I know the Wilton knowledge here is strong so I thought I would ask. Sure I could trim them down but they have a little support on each end.
