    Craftsman Drill Press

Re: Craftsman "80" Drill Press - 103.23100 Hey Frank. Any idea if anyone has ever been able to install a mortising attachment to one of these Craftsman 80s? I was thinking of selling mine after getting a new Grizzly, but if I can use it for mortising, that'd be a good excuse to keep it around...

    Craftsman Drill Press

All, Can anyone tell me if a 1/4HP 1725rpm craftsman motor is strong enough for use on a Craftsman 80? (103.23100). Manual recommends 1750rpm. Thanks, Lakan

Oh wow. You're right, it doesn't have any steel washers in the quill assembly. Thanks again Frank!

I'm looking to replace the steel spindle washers to properly preload the upper bearings on the quill for my Craftsman 12 1/4" 103.23100 press. Any tips on what kind of washer to get? Is it just a regular flat washer, .048...

Maybe I can just use the drill press itself to bore a bigger hole in the pinion as you suggested, or just...

    Craftsman Drill Press

Frank, What kind of steel would be acceptable for this kind of feed handle? I have a craftsman 103.23100. Would you stick with a cold finish carbon steel, or will a stainless type steel work for this? And, would a rod of 1/2" diameter absolutely not fit, or just fit snug? Thanks ahead of time...
