    EZ-Out Stories and Methods

i've never used that style of easy-out with success...but i've used a snap on extrcator set with the fluted rods you tap into a hole you drill into the broken-off bolt - that works GREAT!

What to do with cheap sockets

i've used a socket cut down and ground smooth to replace an alternator bracket spacer on my 440 = worked great

    Living in a garage....legally?

you're from IA - just drive around the rural areas and you'll see plenty. i'm a delivery driver, so i get to see quite a few people that just put up a big morton building and section off part of it as their "house". i don't think they have it all open, though. i thought about it at one time...

    Stanley tools

i bought my dad one of those rotator ratchets...it's actually kind of handy sometimes. he has some issues with his hands, so it actually works pretty well for him

Show my your crane/hoist built in deal

this is my friend's set-up. he actually has 2 of them attached to the steel beams in the middle of the shop....not very good pics - the main interest was to be the motor being pulled and rebuilt. must say it was a breeze to use - never used a cherry picker, but this seems like a much better...

    SK Palm Control arrived today...question

well......i took it apart and the white grease in it was hard as a rock, caked-onto everything. it took me probably 4 tries before i actually got everything together right and now it works flawless. my dad talked to a mutual friend and he said his Mac guy always tells him to take apart...

Friend Got A DEAL At Sears

"item was priced wrong" sounds like the hillbilly argument that the people at walmart hear all the time. i heard a lady tell the customer service girl that she should get that item plus another for free because of their mistake:headscrat. i'm not sure i would do that. in college i found $40...

nope...it's 3/8 set i got BIN 1/4 through 7/8 sockets with ratchet, adapter, and rail for 52.98 shipped...SK's site lists around 176 - i basically paid $4/piece! in the background is 1 of 2 sets of 1/2 inch drive sets i recently inherited in addition to some miscellaneous SK sockets, breaker...

    SK Palm Control arrived today...question

it seems to keep slipping out of gear and going in reverse if you don't hold the center...the whole assembly seems to have quite a bit of play in it - is that how it's supposed to be?

    Menards garage packages

i think both of my dad's garages are menards buildings, but then he re-arranged the doors how he wanted, etc. so they weren't exactly to plan

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

here's the top box i recently inherited from my grandpa. bottom box is at my dad's with the same 15 years of dust and grime all over it, like this one was until a week ago when i cleaned it up.

    Recommend me some ratcheting wrenches

i've used "junk" older bulky flip-over ratchet wrenches and reversible blackhawk. i bought a set of Gearwrench reversible on sale...$39.95 - haven't used them yet, as funds haven't allowed for next project to get started, but they seem to be pretty nice - idk if i'm crazy about the cap-stop...
