    anchors in concrete floor?

I want to install anchors in my garage floor and have them be strong and removable. I was thinking something like a threaded insert I could screw bolts into and remove when finished. My shop is only 20'x20' so when not in use I don't want anything sticking up there. Two reasons. One is my...

Tons of woodworking Mags, why no metal?

I'm just getting started with metal work and have found the "workshop practice series" books to be invaluable for a home dabbler such as myself. A search on Amazon will turn them up. Inexpensive. There are over 50 different books covering mostly different aspects of metal work, drills and...

    Any amerature radio operators here?

I'm a hamster too. Have kept the license current but havn't used it in years, just not that talkative I guess. I love restoring ancient receivers though. You've reminded me I need to get the Hallicrafters sx-28 out of the basement and into the garage, it'll look perfect in the man-cave, sound...

    Wall shelving: sheer or support?

The building should be a fine RF ground for that half of the antenna circuit. For grounding the antenna element, the ground wire (however you do it)...

12 VOLT in your Garage/Shop Electrical Circut

C&C, If you want to go real cheap get a supply out of a junk computer, they have 12V and 5V out. Check the ratings they come in all sizes, the bigger the pc the bigger the supply the better. then if you happen to have 5V devices you could run lines for them as well.

12 VOLT in your Garage/Shop Electrical Circut

C&C, Here is my two cents, sometimes repeating what has been said earlier: 1. Buy a regulated supply. Power supply design is not at all trivial. Check ebay or craigs list in the amateur radio sections for switching supplies. The typical 100W ham radio these days needs 20A or 30A at 13.8V and...
