Happy Labor Day everyone!
The other week I rented a van from Home Depot since I needed a sheet of 1/2" MDF to finish the sides of these cabinets. Originally I intended to make the sides frame and panel but there's only 6' of our house where you can possibly see them. I should have done this a...
You don't need a mentor to use a tracksaw. It's simply a circular saw on a track.
I recently made some cabinets for our office and it was a lot of work. The cabinet boxes were very quick. I bought pre-finished plywood for the upper cabinets where you see the inside. Base is unfinished plywood...
Somehow summer has already come to an end and the kids are finished with their first week of school. Besides a few days in July when we thought we might need a new AC unit, it was a fairly normal summer.
I've started making some progress in my shop and acquiring new things. Found this old...
I hope the Volvo holds out for you. I may be slightly biased, but if you do need a new car check out the Mazda CX-90. We rarely use the 3rd row, but it's nice to have when we need it. We got the bench seat so 3 kids can sit in the back every day going to school.
I've known two people with Volvos of similar ages that seemed to develop a lot of expensive fixes once they hit 100k. Hopefully the drain/refill solves your transmission issues.
If you're doing rough construction work and not making fine furniture where you want to avoid tear out, I would just go with something like Diablo. A thin-kerf blade will bog down less if you're making cuts in thicker or harder wood.
Our Ace Hardware has a vendor who will come and sharpen your...
I made that one and it worked really well with the Ridgid spindle sander and Ridgid planer like in the picture. I've since replaced the planer and haven't screwed the new one down yet. I will try to raise the bottom shelf up so the drawer is more useful and everything is more stable.
Have you...
Our capacitor just went on Saturday. Ace Hardware was the only place who had them in stock. Kid at the counter told me at least a dozen people had been there the last 2 days to buy replacement capacitors.
I wasn't sure it was the capacitor but figured $40 was worth the gamble. Ace Hardware...
I feel like homeowners insurance wouldn’t be too thrilled that the roads aren’t kept clear in case there’s an emergency. No idea what it’s like out there.
We do a LOT of city driving. Loads of stoplights and short distance trips. Our 2014 CX-5 only isn’t even at 100k miles.
Is that the new 2026? We thought about getting that until my wife said 3 row. Don’t love the touchscreen without HVAC buttons. Besides that, looks great!
Thankfully, it's been fairly quiet here for home/auto projects since work has been super busy. My son had a temperature yesterday morning so we ended up not having my family over for Father’s Day. We’ll all be together next week on vacation and would rather not be sick.
Since I had a free day...
It doesn’t compare to the Dewalt 735. Had a refurb Ridgid planer for years but the rollers kept not pulling boards through. Upgraded to the Dewalt and I’m much happier. If you don’t do a lot of wide boards or just a hobbiest it will work fine, just not as good as the Dewalt.
