    DIYer automotive tool brand/quality?

My approach to the subject would be a bit different: If you are willing to buy different brands I would go for a gradual decrease in relative price, quality and value. The 1/4' socket set should be of the highest quality, the 3/8' set a really good brand and go for a decent Taiwan made 1/2'...

    Tools of Japan

Just got my first quality 3/8' set and it is the much appraised Koken 3201 AMW. The only other 3/8' set that I have is a Stainless steel Teng Tools set.... Just one picture in the drawer of my tool-box as many and better pictures can be found in this thread.

    Tools of Japan

Anybody here have a Tone 3/8' ratchet? I am interested in buying one but as they are available only from e-bay to me I thought of asking a few questions: The claim that they are "made in Japan" but are they made there or somewhere else like Taiwan or -god forbid PRC? Does anybody have any...

And a question: Does any reputable manufacturer except King **** make form A WW combination wrenches in form A? Gedore and Elora offer only form B in the 1b and 205 lines.

    Identification of adjustable wrench brand

Found this in grandfathers tool box. There is nothing on it except the logo shown on the 3rd photo. Looks old but in very good condition. Should be from before the 1950's but I cannot be sure. Sometime around 2001-2002 it was partly painted red but the original color was black matte as the...

    Tools from the old world

I think I will end up doing something like that i.e. getting two series of 1/2 and 1/4 sockets in SAE, but I will be using foam as the base for a box so I can cut out the appropriate size/place for each socket, ratchet etc. Just going to wait a little (a few days) in case some combined set...

    Tools of Japan

The tools made in PRC are a waste of money with very few exceptions that are just OK for some DIY. Buy at least Taiwan made tools if budget constrained get some from Brands like Force, Seneca, Toptul and take the Chinese to the nearest recycle center. Japanese tools are at least on par quality...
