Pliers; How Many Is Too Many?

THANK YOU! I don’t see a lot of French-made tools, and I buy even less, but like you said, these seem exceptionally well-made.

Pliers; How Many Is Too Many?

Sorry for the messy cropped pic - bought five pliers today and haven’t gotten all of them sorted yet. Top is a 45° bend Wm Hjorth Jamestown NY “Auto” on one handle only plier. I removed an improvised nut&bolt holding the halves together as found. I’ll see if I can find something better...

    Anybody else into Harrold Tools?

Spotted one at the flea today but didn’t purchase. Forgot it was there later when the vendor started announcing “everything on the tarps is free!” or I would have picked it up.

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

MrsLS had packed up a few cubic feet of basement clutter, so at 04:30 we took it to Jake’s Flea Mkt to sell. After we set up, I did a recon of the field and picked up a few things to refill the void. My first purchase was some SS flatware reminiscent of my grandmother’s Impassa Japan atomic...

Louis Vincent Aronson - Art Metal Works - Ronson

One of the advertisements (attached in post5) shows the washer in an exploded view. Here’s a cropped and highlighted version: Not as clear in illustrations that show it assembled, but it’s visible at the base of the conical wingnut body.

Louis Vincent Aronson - Art Metal Works - Ronson

After purchasing three loose wrenches yesterday, I can finally make a “set” plus three spares. I’ve been saving a 11/16x3/8 for @Private Lugnutz but we haven’t met up recently. If I had really been on the ball, I bet the screw/wingnut was in the box, because there were a LOT of fasteners in...

IIRC, the bottle-opener alligator wrench should have a screwdriver extending from where this one is sharpened. Maybe it was damaged from use and the PO filed it as best they could. Or maybe they just wanted that close-quarters look.

Solo run this morning to Leesport Farmers Market flea. $15 yielded a Ford logo wrench, Kraeuter and S&H Red Devil pliers, three Ronson wrenches, and a “Whitaker Special S-1043” dbe battery terminal wrench (probably Bonney-made). $8 of the total went into the larger Red Devil (No777), which is in...

@nz44tool The three diamonds logo is absent from many pliers models for decades after the late ‘thirties before coming back with laser etching. page9 of the No50 (1939) catalog:

Unmentioned in that post was an unrecognized nickel-plated brass device with two brass mesh-shrouded wings. I suspected from the shape (esp the threaded end) and the 12[gauge] it could be a bore cleaning/polishing tool like a jag or brush, but wanted to find the patent to confirm. Then other...

Visited Hamilton Tool & Supply (www.toolsupermarket.com) this morning. Enjoyed an Oram’s doughnut while looking at C-clamps and pipe wrenches. If I had a day more, I may have found the Bonney 18” and 24” steel-handled Stillsons I casually looked for in a huge pile in the back corner on the...

    Anybody else into Harrold Tools?

I visited Columbiana OH today, and stopped in at the local historic society, headquartered in the basement of a delightful log cabin museum at 10 E Park Ave. I was perusing the books there when I heard another visitor exclaim, “He’s a Harrold!” She’s looking at a group photo of men seated...
