Gates powergrip heat shrink clamp for air lines

I've just done this hose set. The hose is VERY snug on the pigtail to begin with, without any clamping. Once fitted, it's practically impossible to remove without cutting into it. I can't imagine the clamp having to work that hard.

Gates powergrip heat shrink clamp for air lines

Anybody using these on their air lines? I've done mine and I'm happy with them, very non-intrusive. The thing is, they're only rated for coolant, I can't find any psi rating. I have a nitrogen setup for purging/pressure testing (goes up to 16 bar), so I'm going to test a couple and see how they...

    Rudimentary pump up time calculator.

I used to do it all by hand, but that's handy. Thanks!

    Fluke Replacements?

Yeah, that man is well known for torturing multimeters to death and is equally feared by your cheapo HF as well as the high end ones. He basically zaps them with increasingly high voltages to see where they break down, and how severe the fault is. It is a very good indicator to the built quality...

First Oil Change in Garage ...

I always keep a canister of brake cleaner and paper towels handy, it cuts through grease like nothing else. Isopropyl works well too, almost as good as brake cleaner. But when I use it indoors, and it's more than just a few dabs, I wear a mask. I use it all the time and I'd assume at some point...

    best non insulated crimp terminals?

You can find top quality crimpers under quite a few brands, most costing an arm and a leg but look behind the logo and everything pretty much boils down to 3 manufacturers: Pressmaster, Wezag and Knipex. Each have their own unique look so once you've seen enough of them, you'll be able to spot...

If you were going to buy the best soldering station, what would you buy?

JBC, if you want the best. I have this one below and I can tell you it ramps up to temp within 2 seconds, from sleep (tool resting in stand at some 100˚C) to 350˚C. I'm not sure how the other manufacturers caught up with this lately, but couple years back was certainly in a league of its own...

That tool you have no idea you needed

I present you 'The Filetor'. Came with a job lot and though 'What a worthless thing, who on earth would pay money for that!'. Turns out I would. Maybe not its catalog price of 80 euros but I find myself reaching for it all the time. I'm basically getting instant access to 10 thread charts...

Keeping tools you know you’ll never need or use again

That's an interesting one. At first glance, it appears your neighbour is a nasty piece of work. But then again, I would gladly sell all my seldom used tools to my neighbour only to borrow them when needed, so he kinda has a point.

Regrets buying used milwuakee fuel gen2 drill used off ebay

You twist my words, and then you make the assumption that I am an unreasonable person. Why would you do that? Oh yes, because you have an axe to grind. All these buyers who dare to complain, they're getting on your nerves, huh? Describe the item properly and you'll be surprised to see your...

Regrets buying used milwuakee fuel gen2 drill used off ebay

There's nothing wrong with buying from ebay. The amount of money I saved over the years in tools and industrial equipment is just unreal. Let alone I could not even dream to own most of them otherwise, me being a weekend warrior and all. BUT, ebay sellers can be an unruly bunch and you have to...

New generation Chinese powder coating systems

I've noticed there is a bunch of new product coming from China, priced to plug the gap between the likes of Eastwood Dual Voltage guns and entry level pro brands like Colombia. In fact, for us here in the UK it's even worse. There's no middle ground, it's Eastwood and then Gemma/Wagner/Nordson...

Air dryer filter element shelf life

They're not carbon-activated, just general particulate/oil filter elements of 1µm and 0.01µm. I found some references from three different manufacturers. Two suggest a 5 year shelf life for their filters, another a minimum of 5 years. But I think it's rather a worse case scenario, where paper...

Air dryer filter element shelf life

Do these things have a shelf life? I bought two new Walker oil/particulate filters off eBay and turns out they're 16 years old. I'm already onto the seller about it, but don't want to send them back. Practically speaking, do they actually have a shelf life or it's all manufacturer's bull?

Ebay UK tools -> USA, issues?

When I was in love with snap on I used to buy from the US a lot. Hardly paid any taxes, standard procedure was to have one last request after it was all dealt and paid: small value on the customs slip. I can hardly remember any transaction where the seller didn't comply. The threshold is at 18...
