The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

To clarify. the only wood is on the top, that somebody added. These are definitely not home made, only wish I could do that kind of work in my shop. As far as the Coleman decal, i agree it was an add on, a good reason I found nothing similar. A couple of shots of the underside. It has not been...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Found this Coleman box on FBMP and had to have it. Steel cabinet with sixteen drawers. Needs a bit of help, but really well made and heavy. Will have no trouble filling it with tools and hardware, that has been looking for a home for a while. It was about a four hour round trip to bring it...

Tricks for removing sliding closet door finger pulls

Drill a small hole on the back side of the door and use a small punch to push it out. Expanding rubber auto frost plug if the size fits..... If they are glued in they probably will damage their surrondings.

How hard to drill a 1/4 inch hole in 11 gauge steel? Can you do it by hand?

Where are you?? Around here we see import eight inch drill presses for as little as $25. That's the way to go! Like this one.

Old Vice How were the vice handles finished on the ends

On my DIY woodworker's vise, I used a garage sale screw and added collars to the new handle. One was welded on, the other pinned, to make it removeable.

That too often happens on a good deal, only saw them yesterday while looking for something else. I try to cover the "clearance" and "surplus" sections regularly, you never know what's in there, but does take some time.

Building a router table, need advise please.

I built one of those large table top router tables long ago and never used it much. The first thing I did was make a larger base and went on from there. Most of my routing is done with the PC vise mounted and smaller jobs are done with the HF trim router pictured.

How did Snap On become the standard?

As a kid in the forties, a neighbour became a Snap-on dealer., and showed me some of quality stuff he had. Never heard of SO at that point, but you could tell it was good stuff. Think quality is what put SO where they are. His card looked like the one pictured, comical even at my young age.
