Insulate behind structured media panel in 2x4 framed exterior wall?

Oddball situation I have here, and I haven't had any luck in a search for what to do. I am remodeling a detached 12x16 workshop into a home office/game room, and in the process I'm running CAT5E to multiple locations in order to have hardwired connections everywhere I think I could need them-...

    Correct?

Definitely remove any soldered connections, and run the wires bare, or with crimp ferrules for the screw terminal connections. Solder is not needed here. It will cause failure over time from thermal cycling- there's a reason they don't solder the wires on stranded wire in nearly every industry-...

6-50R install for welder under FPE Stab-Lok panel

I'll be drywalling over the wire run inside the wall, but its so short the price difference in less than five feet is trivial. basically running it in the wall a couple feet under the panel.

6-50R install for welder under FPE Stab-Lok panel

I daily drive a carbureted car... In California. I'm not so sure they'll even sell gas anymore by the time I pay off this house. Future proofing the outlet is sounding like a better idea now, its the same work either way, right? Run bigger AWG, and I can always swap outlets and breakers later...

6-50R install for welder under FPE Stab-Lok panel

I really don't like the idea of running 12 gauge, even for something intermittent at this power range. Hell, I almost wanted to go for 8 gauge originally 😕

6-50R install for welder under FPE Stab-Lok panel

Yes, I addressed that in the first post. I'm going to be looking into the logistics involved, permitting, cost, etc and tackling that later. I only recently found out that these are not good panels. I can tackle adding an outlet and breaker, but not the cost of a panel and associated fees right...

6-50R install for welder under FPE Stab-Lok panel

Hey all, a few things here, let me first lay out what I want to do. For background info, I am a fairly experienced, cautious, and fairly well equipped handyman, and have a lot of experience with 120 volt projects. I own this home, and am not as concerned about resale value as I am longevity and...

    Tar paper and insulation?

Hey all. I have a approximate 12x16 mother in law unit/ workshop that is fully framed, bare studs, and has an attic area rafters up, and I'm in the process of modifying a few things, as well as prepping for insulation. Plan is insulation, drywall, and to set it up as a home office and game...

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

I'm at 9-1 compression with dual 40IDF clone carbs, and run on 91 octane. Runs cool and makes good power with great MPG  All the big builders i consulted said the 9-1 compression was just right for 91, all the old timers and home builders swear the engine wouldn't last a month. Nobody...

Randy, After spending the last week or so reading through this thread in my downtime at work I felt compelled to post in your thread! My first post on GJ in fact! You've done a ton of very good, detailed work on these projects, and you are very similar to me in that you start new projects...
