    Non-condensing LP furnace exhaust venting

I agree, to a point. Like I said, I like to know things. I did 12 yrs Stationary Engineer, Yankee Stadium, did all the HVAC and plumbing. Very familiar with oil fired, just not well versed with gas systems. Whether too poor, or too cheap, I don't like to pay people to do things I can do myself...

    Non-condensing LP furnace exhaust venting

Did my homework, Yup, mine is CAT1, vertical venting, unless used with a specific pipe and power vent to vent horizontal. But I would still like to know why, other than because they say so. Combustion process type of reason? I just like to know why things are what they are.

    Non-condensing LP furnace exhaust venting

All techno jargon, CAT 1, CAT3, stray CAT, morse, international, and safety code aside, after looking at many manuals for many furnaces, for whatever reason, bottom line is condensing furnaces can vent horizontal, non condensing furnaces vent vertical. Thanks for all the input from all of you!

    Non-condensing LP furnace exhaust venting

Not being a ****. I understand manufacturers recommendations, etc. I guess it's more of a general question of condensing vs non condensing exhaust piping. i know secondary heat exchanger on condensing unit cools exhaust enough to allow for PVC piping vs metal piping on non condensing unit...

    Non-condensing LP furnace exhaust venting

I'm not worried about penetrations, clearances, etc, just whether I can go horizontal through a wall, or have to go vertical, so many feet above roof, etc. Again, condensing and non-condensing furnaces both have a draft inducer blower, so draft isnt an issue as with a wood stove. It's a used...

    Non-condensing LP furnace exhaust venting

My house has a 96% eff condensing LP furnace which has the PVC venting. I had to use an 80% non-condensing LP furnace in my garage. Both furnaces have the draft inducer, do I need to vent the exhaust vertical on the 80%, up over the roof, etc, or can I run a metal pipe horizontal through the wall?
