This happened in my shop as well, if you remove the snap ring on the cap right behind it you can push the band back in place and thread the bolt back in.

I've used mine in a full time shop for the last 3 years, and i have yet to break one. 3/8 and 1/4.

You want to look for a GF-5 rating, as long as it has that, you're good to go. "Synthetic blend" is a sham.
