Every proper shop needs a tv so you can aide in procrastination.
And it was an older plasma which weighed more than me, so we enlisted the help of the gantry crane to mount it. (It's probably a good thing I'm not a rear crane operator with that rigging).
I acquired some random lumber (a...
Forgot about this one, I'll do a little catching up. A fair amount has progressed in the last year.
I finally added a cnc plasma back to the tool library. Got my first plasma cam 15ish years ago, then had a nice 5x10. Sure did miss having those around. So I found a little project Langmuir and...
Hey! Long time, how has everything been?
I guess that is a little bit of personal preference, most of my shops have always had them upside down. The reasoning I was told behind it makes sense to me. If something falls on the plug and pulls it partially out it, that object would be hitting the...
It's not a very big shop after coming from the 4500 sq. ft. commercial shop. So I had to make a mini fab shop with small fab shop tools haha. But no it's the perfect little setup for what I need around here. Just need to figure out a rolling stand for the tube bender and get a little plasma...
I have a few tubs/bodies to pull from some of the Rovers, so went ahead and made up a gantry crane that will work in the shop. It is sized so I can roll it out the garage door, and store somewhat out of the way when not in use, always the problem with gantry cranes in my opinion. Space hogs.
Sasha chilling on one of the many Menards runs.
Acquired another tanker style desk. Didn't need it, but this happens to be the desk that was in my Grandpa's and Dad's used car lot in the 70s. So I'll restore it and find a use for it in the shop somewhere.
Moved another thing that I've had...
Here it sits with just some 3/4" subfloor.
I guess here is how it really sits for now. I managed to acquire a load of air-cooled vw stuff. So much for an office at the moment. I tend to be my own worst enemy.
I went ahead and added some more lighting to the rest of the shop.
Moved...
Let's play a little catch up on this. I've been enjoying being able to get some use out of this place throughout the summer.
I made up a little mezzanine that goes over the fab tools and should house an office and bathroom in the nearish future.
Excited with adding another one to the collection, this happens to be the desk my dad and grandpa had in their little used car lot back in the 70s.
Need to make some time to do a little resto on it.
Also started wiring up the inside of the shop. I'm obviously not an electrician but tried to keep everything neat, tidy and correct.
I'll have my electrician buddy come hook up the panel to the meter and check everything over.
But essentially 20 amp 110v outlets at every pole. The left and...
Forgot about this thread, didn't do a terrible amount to the shop over the winter besides store some Rovers in there.
Recently picked up a little co2 laser to play with. I have it in the little garage for now until the shop is ready for it. Should be fun to mess around with.
The casters are only temporarily installed to move it while empty. I don't think you actually lift anything with them on. They just pin on to move it.
You can see how bendpak does it here:
My main problem is the snow plow during wet snows, although it does get hit sometimes. I used to have a regular box on top of a 4x4 cedar post. I'd have to replace/repair it 6-7 times a year.
I built this one 2-3 years ago. Just some eyelets through the top of the box and hooks. It is the...
