10 Ton press, have you built one?

I agree with the notion of making your own press. I too saw the HF offerings and thought I could do better. They were wobbly and way out of square. Here's my table top 4t that I made from scrap that I bought at the local metal yard and stuff I had lying around. It can't be that hard/expensive to...

The many uses of a shop vac

Similar to Bronson's use.... I had to install an oil temp sending unit into an oil pan in a motor with fresh oil. Rather than dump the oil, I held the vac nozzle to the oil filler cap opening in the valve cover, while my son removed the pipe plug and installed the sending unit. Not a drop was...

Port-a-band saw stand. Why didn't I make one of these sooner?

Yep. As Conor said make yourself a little table and you're good to go. I built a similar one to yours and it has paid for itself a dozen times over in time saved.

I thought about that but I don't have machining capabilities... so I work with I have. I doubt I will ever wear out the extension or the tube as there is little friction between the two.

Thanks. Glad to be of motivation. Thank you. Thanks. The extension goes through a tube that's been welded into the top piece. I found some tubing that was slightly loose... to tighten the clearance I sliced it with a thin cut off wheel down it's length ( just one slice so it stays together)...

Tapping stand I finished today. The extension can easily be exchanged for a shorter one if the work demands it. I actually used the stand to tap the holes in the work surface during the construction. I can remove the stand and clamp it to larger work if the need arises. The T-bar and extension...

Thanks! Thanks. I am wondering the same thing about the stress that the ram will create. My plan to is to monitor the welds by looking for cracks in the paint finish and deflection. I will add strength as needed. The two horizontal bars midway are only there to locate the vertical guides. The...

Here's a little 4 ton press I just finished. Couldn't justify a large press as I am very limited on floor space and I didn't like any of the Chinese options. It stands 29" tall, there's 16" of work space between the uprights and with the bed resting on the legs there's 10" between the top of the...

    HF portable band saw stand

Thanks. I think it will provide many a straight cut. Thanks. The switch on the back is just for the work light. The saw is still operated via the switch on the handle. The black bit on the factory switch regulates blade speed and the yellow push button locks switch it place, so it's easy to set...

    Thanks for the welcome!

    HF portable band saw stand

Yeah but that's for the Milwaukee or DeWalt.... not for the HF product. Besides the build/fab is half the fun specially when I spent less than $30 including the light.

    HF portable band saw stand

The stand I found on http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=6&f=49&t=360373 Thanks on the table. This was a quick set up. In the future I plan to do something a bit more precise with the ability to run a guide. Thanks.
