Thoughts on how to get engineless cars up a sloped driveway into the garage

An anchor in the floor like others have said. Or a pusher vehicle with an old tire between. I used to have an old Ford Tempo that only had first gear and reverse. I lag bolted two old tires to the front bumper and used it for a lot pusher/driveway pusher for years. Looked like hell but...

Do you use a service cart?

Agreed. The modern offerings from Harbor Freight, etc, are rickety junk compared to my old Snappy cart (yeah, yeah, another Snap-On snob blathering on about Snap-On's wonderfulness). I bought mine from one of the other guys in the shop for $50 bucks, used, back in the early 80s. Best tool...

    Dryer Vent Through Roof

I own a duplex that has both laundry rooms dryers vented through the roof. The vents are about eight feet long, and are terminated like an HVAC vent (short stand of pipe above the roof, with a standard rain cap zip screwed on). It's worked okay for the most part. The rain caps eventually...

Do you use a service cart?

I have a Snap-On cart identical to the one in post #20. Had it for 30 years, still use it every time I twist wrenches. I have a heavy strip magnet stuck to one long corner with all my impact wobble sockets stuck on it (in order), plus flexible spark plug sockets. It's a big time saver. Load...

Vehicle Oil Changes: Are you a DIY'er?

Yeah, I suspect it does too. By the time you go out, get in line, sit around in the waiting room looking a two year-old magazines, etc, etc, etc, you've killed quite a bit of time. I'm 56 and can do an oil change in 15 minutes, inspect the half-shaft boots, the brake hoses, eyeball down the...

Vehicle Oil Changes: Are you a DIY'er?

Same with me. Mobil 1 (of the appropriate viscosity) in every vehicle, every 10,000 miles. Wix filters. I just let the odometer be the mileage record; it's easier that way.

Central Air Conditioning, Hide The Ugly Compressor

Yeah, it's too close and too solid. I'd make it bigger, move the sides about a foot away from the unit, and make it removable. It's a real drag trying to wind yourself into some hole to work on a unit that's in a tight spot.

UltraLight sheetrock and general sheetrock pricing questions.

I've hung about three houses worth of it in the last year. Have to say....I don't like it. The core is brittle. If you break open a sheet and examine the core it looks like it's been whipped full of air bubbles. I'm guessing that's how the weight savings have been achieved. Easier to...

what kind of air line couplers do you use?

Milton Type A Have used them for 30 years. I love the push-to-connect feature without having to pull the collar back, and the coupler is just a little bigger around and knurled for easier gripping when uncoupling.

    Sheetrocking a ceiling solo possible?

^^^ This. I agree with this whole post, especially the part I bolded. I hung rock professionally for 12 years, and finished for a few years after that. Mayday0017 is exactly right.

    110 Outlet Wiring Question-Pigtails???

Exactly right. A couple of weeks ago I got a call from one of our renters. She was complaining about electrical gremlins so I went and and took a look. Turned out to be a cheapo receptacle, wires just poked into the back, which had melted/failed internally, puffing out the whole rest of the...
